Granville: I could be sad: this does make some obstruction in the blood, this cross-gartering; but what of that?
The Real Clear Politics average of job approval polls (seven polls included) for President Obama is now down to 48.6%: President Obama Job Approval
Mucky, now that you've so ably demonstrated your intellectual and cultural superiority (and its relevance for posting on a basketball bbs) would you be so kind as to explain the context of Puccini's comment "and then, Tristan?" i know you've heard Puccini's music (even though you may not have realized it), so this should be easy for you. for extra credit, please explain the meaning (as opposed to the context) of the above remark. failure to do so in a timely fashion will be taken as proof of your unsuitability for posting on basketball message boards in these here (nominally) united states. no fair resorting to goolge/wiki...
If it please the eye of one, it is with B-Bob as the very true sonnet is: "Please one, and please all." When the herd does post with liberal words of glee. Bow as thou is the chosen one whilst the herd deliver a rep-a-round.
Quote of the year! This may well be the best post ever in the history of D&D. It's amazing. mcmark points out someone's use of a quote from Hamlet wasn't really fitting to the point a Palin supporter was making. basso knows mcmark's a very fine thespian and certainly has an area of knowledge regarding Shakespeare. mcmark didn't ever use any quote from Puccini, yet basso brings it up out of the blue because he feels shamed that a fellow Palin supporter was humiliated in area of expertise in which mcmark certainly has a keen knowledge, basso just brings up Puccini for no reason and in relation to absolutely nothing. That's hilarious. I'm going to rep basso for this post. Seriously. Here's a little parallel scene to illustrate what happened. Surgeon basso: Man Obama's policies are worse than a clogged septic tank. plummer mark: Actually septic tanks don't get clogged it's the pipes. your analogy makes no sense. Crowd: (pointing and laughing at basso's clumsy statement) hahahahahahahaha Surgeon basso: (trying to hide his humiliation) I see, Monsieur Plummer. Well can you tell me how many CC's of anesthesia would be needed for a 180 lb man to be put under for a tonsillectomy and the grade of scalpel that should be used, as well as how many clamps would be needed to cut off any vascular bleeding in the area? (silence) Surgeon basso: Hmmmmmmmmm???????? (crickets) Surgeon basso: I thought not.
The quote was never addressed to a point made by any Palin supporter. The quote was addressed to the incessant protestations by the Palin haters here on this board that she is irrelevant. You people do protest too much about her to be taken seriously on this point. In fact, you protest so much about her that no one who is not stupid can possibly believe that she is truly irrelevant in your eyes. No one makes that much of a stink about someone they do not care about. In fact, if that were truly the case, exactly the opposite behavior would be expected. Obviously that quote must have struck a nerve, or you guys would not have been so animated in your efforts to try and spin this thread off onto a completely unrelated and irrelevant tangent. Really now.
Why do you feel the need to use imaginary arguments? We don't say she's irrelevant, we say she's stupid and dangerously under-qualified to hold high office. But you can't argue with that so you make up something you can argue with. If these "protestations" of "irrelevance" are "incessant," it should be a breeze to link twenty from posts on this board. (If they're incessant, why not 50?) How about ten? Five? One?
When it comes to Palin and this board you are as close to a Palin supporter as basso is apt to find. I'm not exactly protesting about her. I'm more laughing at her. If a buffoon walked into a job interview for a CEO at a top corporation loudly proclaiming that 2+2 = 3 people wouldn't just quietly sit because they don't have to worry about the guy getting the job and he's irrelevant. They are going to laugh at him. If that same buffoon keeps showing up at job interviews proclaiming equally as stupid things as the math fact above, people are going to continue and talk, laugh, and make of the person. It doesn't mean the person is or isn't irrelevant. It just means they are foolish and putting that foolishness out there for all to see. And if a couple of other people who are ignorant about how big corporations run see the buffoon on TV and want someone as clueless as they are at the head of a company, then it's all the more laugh worthy.
The only people I have seen claim that Palin is irrelevant are conservatives. The "haters" (moderates and liberals) don't like her because she has no intellectual curiosity, intellectual honesty, or policy positions.
The world is virtually jam packed with people who honestly meet this description, not the Governor Palin does. Is hatred how a normal person regards someone with these characteristics? Obviously not. You guys do hate her, but no one who is objective and honest about the matter believes that is the reason why.

Yes, but most of them stay out of the limelight and don't get elevated very nearly to the highest political office in the land. I totally agree with you that there are way, way too many people who lack intellectual curiosity and honesty and who don't understand political issues. the difference between most of them and Palin is that most of them don't run for office. I fixed this to indicate what I assume you were saying. She is. The woman is utterly devoid of intellectual curiosity and honesty, as evidenced every time she has a knee jerk reaction to the things she sees as "liberal." On the campaign trail, she showed again and again her near complete lack of grasp of political issues, though to be fair she seems to be getting some education (or hiring some ghost writers to hide her lack of knowledge) on this front lately. I believe that disdain is the normal reaction when someone who is obviously over their head tries to make a name for themselves as Palin does. I, for one, don't feel anywhere near strong enough about Palin that you could accurately call it "hate," but I have a fair amount of disdain, as explained above. Let me know when someone "objective and honest about the matter" begins saying that people on the left and in the middle "hate" Palin. As it is, the only people making those claims are Faux "News" and their supplicants.
