It's annoying how the franchise pretends moves like this make any difference. It's like they just want to keep the season ticket holders on board. They think the fans are gullible idiots.
They do. Changing OCs have made huge impact in the past. Helped the Ravens to the Super Bowl. Changing DCs led the Texans to their first playoff season. They just have to pick a good one. Musgrave is still available.
I know you want them to fire everybody and burn it all down. There are ways to improve this team without starting over from square one.
His first year in Chicago was not awful. Got the best out of Cutler/Marshall and then McCown (which got him paid). But alas, he was a bad head coach vs being a bad coordinator. He was scapegoated in Baltimore. Didn't have a whole lot to work with there, for ultimately a talent poor team.
Oh I didn't see that. I guess you snooze, you lose. Perks of being a playoff team; you're stuck with the scraps
Exactly what I wanted to say. Obvious move to show they care..., fans get excited for new puppet coordinator............. same results.
I thought this whole complicated offensive package was Bill's forte. How much of our offensive play design and play calling did George actually do? Was he the one calling run, run, pass all year? Was he the one who limited Brock to safe short passes? Will a new offensive coordinator run the offensive show or manage it?
I hate when people complain about this. Did you want them to keep godsey? Obrien essentially gave the same answer about two people; godsey and osweiler. It was clear he new that the offensive failures were because of the qb and the oc. Fixing the oc is the easiest one. Hopefully they can address the qb. It's weird that fans complain that a team fires a coach that failed at his job.
Bill O Brien sat back the other 16 games and agreed with run run pass punt? He brings up a good point. We will never know who has control with this team. Who picks the new oc?
Texans fired OC George Godsey. It was officially announced as a "mutual parting of ways." Godsey spent the last two seasons as Houston's offensive coordinator, but Bill O'Brien retook playcalling duties in late September. Whether Godsey was a problem or not, the Texans felt the need to "part ways" with someone for their impotent offense, and it certainly wasn't going to be the guy (GM Rick Smith) who signed Brock Osweiler. The Texans are back to the drawing board at quarterback for 2017. ____________________ Norv Turner? Ken Whisenhunt? I think he's under contract and the new coach said he wants to keep him. Spoiler: Totally throwing **** against the wall Juan Castillo(Bills OL) Bill Callahan(Redskins OL) Mike Munchak(Steelers OL) Tony Sparano(Vikings OL) Joe Philbin(Colts OL) Mike Tice(Raiders OL) Tom Cable(Seahawks OL) Brian Daboll(Patriots TEs) Greg Roman(Ravens TEs; just signed on) Chad O'Shea(Patriots WRs) Karl Dorrell(Jets WRs) Derek Dooley(Cowboys WRs) Wade Wilson(Cowboys QBs) John DeFilippo(Eagles QBs) Matt Cavanaugh(Redskins QBs) Bill Lazor(Bengals QBs) Alex Van Pelt(Packers QBs) Brian Schottenheimer(Colts QBs) Matt LaFleur(Falcons QBs) Ken Dorsey(Panthers QBs) Ryan Day(Ohio State Co-OC; just signed on)
Lol very true. "He looks much more comfortable in this system than last season " Then when the season starts its sos
Don't get me wrong, I thought anyone in charge of our offense needed to go. It's just that reporters always referred to Bill's complicated offensive, etc...and I just wonder why it wasn't referred to differently if George ran the show. Not only that, why Bill let it continue, when it was horrid.
Don't you want a new GM? I do too, but a new HC also. Not that much difference. I don't have a problem with firing godsey, I just don't think it was his fault
