1Up lists a release date of 2009. I really think this game is going to drop in November. Damn, I am excited about this game. If I only have time for 1 game, I might have to bump Brutal Legend to play this.

I almost don't want to play this. It's like a lose lose. You have two probable outcomes:

    1. The game, although visually stunning, can't possibly live up to the hype of its predecessors and becomes a bit of a disappointment, thus tarnishing the franchise in my eyes.

    2. The game actually lives up to the hype, (I don't know if its possible to excede it's own tremendous expectations) but becomes easily one of the greatest if not THE greatest action game ever created. If this is the case it will ruin most of the other games that I play after it. Almost like after I saw The Dark Knight in theaters. All the other movies were just so blahh.

I think that's just their guess. According to IGN and a few other places, they didn't talk about a release date. But then again, IGN has it listed as Q4 2009 too, so...

(still going to expect March 2010 but hope for Nov/Dec 2009)

BTW, I think this is mentioned in the previews somewhere, but I believe this trailer is actually pretty old. Around Fall 2008 or so. The new(er?) screens show some of the updated graphics (Kratos got some decent upgrades for example).

I rarely get into predciting things like this, but there is no way this one doesn't live up to or surpass expectations. The other games were the best I have played.

Kratos will not disappoint. Be lucky he doesn't jump out of your TV, rip off your arms and stab you with the blades attached to them........oh wait.

It's all random speculation, but I think there's a lot of feeling out there that the game will come out this year. I'm curious to see what press will be released in the coming months.

That footage was shown at a Sony conference a few months back. David Jaffe (director of God of War 1) raved about what he saw then. He was disappointed that the clip shown at the VGA's wasn't the same.

The gameplay sounds like it'll still be the same good Kratos bloody fun, but the graphics make me want to drool. I can't wait to play this game on a HDTV. I got one a few months ago and played Resistance 2 on it. The blew me away with the graphics, but I think that game has nothing on how gorgeous God of War 3 will be.

Apparently this new movie is still from an older build, but the screenshots are from a newer build.....

The only thing that might worry me is that a new director is working on the game. But then again, Cory Barlog was new with GoW 2 and he did a great job. As long as most of the original team is still more or less intact, shouldn't really matter too much. Plus, I think Jaffe and Barlog do have some influence on the game's development, although Stig Asmussen still has the final say of course.

Yeah, his quote got a lot of attention online. A bunch of people saying how GoW 3 is disappointing because it "doesn't look like a painting come to life." Jaffe does like some hyperbole from time to time. If I'm not mistaken, I think Jaffe said that he saw some of the stuff that is in the Game Informer article.

FWIW, G4 actually had some really good interviews with some of the Santa Monica team:

A few interesting details (EX: Titans have their own AI, not scripted).
