I can't believe someone is making this about race. How utterly stupid.

right...i have no idea. No clue what so ever. I'm not the one calling black players thugs because of comments.

Bottom line is Trent is a coward QB that should have blocked high like the rest of his teammates on that play. Instead.....well, we know the rest.

No need to keep this up because nothing you say will change my mind and vice versa.

Common sense prevails and the self-righteous knee-jerkers move on to their next rabble-fest.

    Rabble, rabble, rabble...

I agree that Green was a total coward in that situation...he needed an out and that was his way of trying to protect himself. Never said otherwise. And just so you know...I am middle eastern, was born in Iran, and lived in Tehran as a child. I have no reason to have any negative feelings towards blacks or whites. Im completely neutral.

So, go ahead with your stupid a$$ comments.

No search so I can't confirm this wasn't posted.

But it seems to vindicate TJ somewhat?

Texan Travis Johnson will not be fined by NFL

    By JOHN McCLAIN
    Copyright 2007 Houston Chronicle

Defensive tackle Travis Johnson will not be fined by the NFL for taunting Miami quarterback Trent Green during the Texans' 22-19 victory at Reliant Stadium on Sunday.

Johnson is being criticized by fans and media around the country for the taunting penalty and for the post-game comments in which he ripped Green for going after his knees. Many of Johnson's critics are saying he should be fined at least $5,000, but Gene Washington, the NFL's director of football operations said there would be no fine after reviewing the play.

"Gene Washington determined that Johnson's taunting penalty did not warrant a fine," said Greg Aiello, the league's senior vice president of public relations. "The player was upset about what he thought was an illegal block. Gene did not believe he deserved to be fined.

"Not every taunting penalty draws a fine. The block, in fact, was legal. Should the taunting penalty have been called? Yes. Standing over a player on the ground and pointing at him is by rule taunting. The penalty was properly called."

Green suffered a grade-3 concussion when he blocked Johnson and his head hit the defensive tackle's knee. Green's career is in jeopardy because he suffered a severe concussion last season, too.

Johnson has a bruised knee and a sore neck but expects to play at Jacksonville.

The decision to fine (or not fine) TJ was strictly based on the taunting penalty on the field. Not surprised he didnt get fined. Where TJ is an idiot was in the locker room after the game. Those comments were plain and simply, stupid and classless.

Now that I watched the play a couple more times on TV, the play was definitely below the knees and dangerous.. but not illegal. The guys breaking down the play also said it was a legal block. TJ was running towards Green, but for whatever reason didn't have his eyes looking foward.

Classy. Do you know what else happens all the time? People play a race card in a situation where no racism existed. And they play it so much, that it dulls sensitivities to the very real, very evil racism that still *does* exist. Congratulations for trivializing something horrible by defending the moronic actions of a player who had clearly taken leave of his self control.

I'll concede that my response to you was terse and possibly rude. But I've seen real racism way too much to tolerate things like this. You don't even know the guy, and you automatically project motives onto him.

Here's an excellent example of what I'm talking about:
This comment honestly threw me for a loop. I hadn't for a moment even begun to consider your ethnic background. It never crossed my mind, as rarely does ethnic background cross my mind. Yet you assume I've already decided what race you are, and made a judgement about your take based on it. Wow. I mean, wow. The *only* one thinking about your race was *you*.

And, quite possibly, the only person thinking about Travis Johnson's race was you. I certainly wasn't thinking about his race. I guess I shouldn't speak for the person you attacked with the race card, however.

No, you can do it for me :D Seriously, I suck at articulating my exact thoughts and you seem to be much better at this. Maybe I can do a better job if I write it in Farsi.

In any case, I cant believe I actually have to sit here and defend the fact that race has ZERO to do with my observations and comments about what took place on Sunday. Effing ridiculous.

    now this...

Kubiak wants block that injured Green outlawed by NFL

Dallas Texans coach Gary Kubiak said he spent time Monday on the phone with league officials discussing the legal block by Miami quarterback Trent Green that sent defensive tackle Travis Johnson flying into the air. Kubiak said would like to see the competition committee make such a block illegal.

Green's helmet hit Johnson's knee infuriating Johnson, who was flagged for taunting the motionless Green on the field.

"It's created a situation I think we need to look at, too,'' Kubian said. "Maybe something is done down the road about those types of plays taking place behind the line of scrimmage.''

In the future...don't call people "thugs" when it's not warranted and you will not have people like me taking offense to it. That's classless and to me, just as bad as Travis comments after the game.

Congrats on being middle eastern, but I could care less what ethnicity you are. Your comments were questionable. It's funny how stuff like this happen (thug comments) and then people like you want to tell the world that race doesn't play a roll....but why did you call him a thug? Is Travis mugging, stealing or shooting people around Houston or anywhere else? Watch what you say and you will not have people questioning you.

It's over for me......The league made it's ruling.

MSN, thanks for your paragraphs, but I will not be responding because it's clear you have all the answers. I don't agree with you on this topic and you know what? I'll live and be fine with it. I apologize if I offended you in anyway, same goes for rezdawg or anyone else.
