Another thing I wonder is that if TJ would have gotten seriously injured from the play...would we be having this debate? I think the NFL would have gone back and examined the play and that a very interesting outcome could have come out of it.

Another factor with cutblocks like that is that by going low you are further reducing the probability that under any reasonable circumstances someone would be able to see you and thus reduce their chance of injury.

The rule is going to get looked at before years end.. this season has been so injury riddled..

    Discussing the Green block
Coach Gary Kubiak said he spent time Monday on the phone with league officials discussing the legal block by Miami quarterback Trent Green that sent defensive tackle Travis Johnson flying into the air.

Kubiak said would like to see the competition committee make such a block illegal.

    Green's helmet hit Johnson's knee.

The block infuriated Johnson, who was flagged for taunting the motionless Green on the field. Green was unconscious and suffered a Grade 3 concussion.

"First off, the league told me that the block's a legal block — his head's in position — it's a legal block," Kubiak said. "I understand that, but in my opinion it's created a situation I think we need to look at, too.

" Maybe something is done down the road about those types of plays taking place behind the line of scrimmage. I don't know, but I would like to see them just take a look at it. Our competition committee has been awesome. I know as coaches we're looking at that all the time in the offseason, and there are plays that come up that may change things.

"I don't know. I'm not one to say something has to change. I think it's good that we all take a look at it."

Meanwhile, Green was diagnosed with the most severe type of concussion and will undergo further tests.

The blow is considered career-threatening for the 37-year-old quarterback.

Completely uncalled for. I've called people of all kinds of ethnic backgrounds "thug". It's a comment concerning a person's behavior patterns.

Do you throw this card around often?

Not really....what makes him a thug? Because he's black and had heated comments after a game? Even if what he said after the game was wrong....it doesn't make him a THUG. THAT WAS UNCALLED FOR. His comments after the game were questionable...I don't judge him because I wasn't the one that almost had my career taken away with a low chop block. Calling him a THUG is questionable.......It seems he's good at it. I'm calling a spade a spade. Trent threw a dirty block...let's call it questionable; does he deserve to be called a thug? No; because it seems to be reserved for certain types of players. Lets keep it real

It was a dirty tackle. A lot of dirty crap goes on in a football game. In the words of Coach Dan Hawkins.... "Go play intramurals brotha"

    I certainly hope not.

Why do you even bring this up???

Well, I didn't call him a thug, so you'll have to gather that from the other guy. I'd guess, however, that it had something to do with taunting a man down with an obvious serious injury, then not having enough self-control to watch his mouth two freaking HOURS later.

I tend to agree. I only call someone a thug who has a history of crap like this. Terrell Owens comes to mind.

His comments weren't questionable, they were reprehensible, juvenile, and without excuse. I don't judge him, either, but I most certainly DO judge those particular actions. The judgement is pretty cut-and-dried, really. He was wrong.

Calling him a thug *is* questionable. But I didn't do it! Thanks for the ad hominem, though, I've been making quite a collection of those this week!

No, you threw the race card out of nowhere, and it was uncalled for. Perhaps the poster who used the word "thug" was out of line, but so IMO is someone tossing a race card into the mix.

    Indeed; let's.

Do you just enjoy calling people that? If you'll go back and read critically, you'll see that I agreed with your point.

Then shut up and move on if you don't like me pointing it out.

The Texans knew damn well Travis Johnson was an idiot for doing everything he did after getting hit on a legal play. So does most everyone outside of Houston. People should be pissed that the NFL allows that type of hit in that particular situation. Also, they should be pissed that a professional football player made a complete fool of himself this past Sunday and had an opportunity to correct that mistake and chose to dig a deeper hole by cursing a man lying in the hospital with a concussion. I was at the game and I was embarrassed for the Texans even before I knew Green was out cold.

Yeah... you're still missing my point.

My point is that the Texans don't have the luxury of making such candid statements, while we, the fans, do.

    MSN,

First let me apologize; for I thought you made the comments.

Now, you know what's one of the biggest problems with society? Everyone wants to throw race under the rug like it doesn’t come into the equation when dealing with matters these days. Calling a black player a Thug because of comments he made is sad and I don't care whether or not you think I'm throwing the race card or not. Besides...I could be white, don't let the "Jackson0" fool you.

It's an issue.....and I believe that it's more of a black/white issue than anything else.

"Black player is a thug for taunting white player while unconscious"

This play has a lot of peoples feathers ruffled. What I saw was a 6'4 220lbs QB turn coward and cut a defensive player at the knees when he could have easily bumped him off course because it’s clear the defensive player never saw him coming.

Calling Travis a Thug makes it a race issue....especially when he's not a thug

Like I said…..its like “thug” is the new “N” word these days. A loop hole of sorts.

If someone is out there robbing, stealing, committing crimes….yeah; he’s a low life life thug regardless of race.

Do you know the definition of thug? Its like hoodlum...a tough, often aggressive or violent youth. TJ's comments after the game were completely out of line. He exhibited very poor judgment and behavior. He went overboard with his aggressive tirade. It has nothing to do with the fact that he's black.

Thanks for springing the race card on me. Get a clue next time.

Thank you for interrupting.....I don't take it personal you don't agree with me. You don't see it the way I do.....just disagree; don't call me wrong.

    Now....should I call you thug?
