Just wait till he perfects his signature move, "the Swiss roll". He will be unstoppable!

This is exactly how Morey is going to pitch Capela to teams who are interested him.

Capela is a rising defensive force, but he will never be a star. What Capela gives us as a decent defensive big is pretty easily replaceable from free agency or the draft. It's like a running back position in the NFL. Teams like the Patriots know they are pretty easy to find and there's no point investing any high dollar amount on them.

Nene finished #12 in RPM for centers. It's not that great, but Capela in comparison finished at #35. If you want to just look at DRPM, Nene still excels over Capela.

We played him more when it mattered. He played 25+ minutes in 3 of the OKC games, and his production was critical.

I totally agree with nearly all your points, but I'm not sure about the last sentence. Why would anyone accept him for a real star, since he is primarily a defensive player, with the ability to run the P/R?

Ryan Anderson is a useful shooter, who can occasionally rebound, and defend. He is not worth 18.74 M. If Capela gets a big extension, we will have no room for a future star, who can take the burden off from Harden.

It wouldn't be a 1 for 1 swap, and I don't think we'd be able to get a star like Butler or George. But for teams that may be looking to move on and are willing to sell low for a 70c on the dollar trade, Capela, picks, and a couple of our role players may be able to do the job.

Is that really worth it though? The Rockets need to create cap room by moving Lou and Ariza, and getting a better forward/center than Anderson. I'm ok with moving Anderson and Capela plus picks if we get George.
I know that is unlikely to work. Thanks for your posts, I really appreciate them.

the reason they don't play him that much unless they absolutely have to is because he is old and they know he himself can't handle that many minutes....but its the playoffs, if they can get to the second round, its ok getting hurt. they needed his big body, capela will get bigger....

Might be a good Morey move to lock him up early for less money, and maintain flexibility like Golden State did.

A defensive rebounding big is very valuable in today's NBA

They aren't a dime a dozen and they have significant impacts on games

Why do you trolls want to get rid of Harden so badly?

We need replacements at the 4 and 5.

We need a PF and C who can rebound and guard the paint.

We will have to shell out a little money for the PF but there are good centers in the league that you can get for a bargain.

In a perfect world Capela is the perfect guy to split time at center... along with a beefy banger who you could interchange with if the post gets physical... or if you need a scoring option beyond PnR and lobs...
but in the league as it stands, someone is going to be willing to pony up big money based on advances so far and future potential... if it comes down to RFA next year... it only takes one other team to substantially drive up the price....
That all said, I really like Clint - but I'm not sure he's the guy we can give big starter money to... with the gameplan we're using with the whole stretch 4 type game, we leave our center on an island pretty much... like i said, if we got a beefy option to alternate Clint with - fine, but at somepoint we need a beast down low if he's expected to hold down the paint solo...
I'd do 4/40 -4/50 in a heartbeat... at 4/60 - 4/70 I'd have to pretty confident that I could get a deal on the beefy banger part of the duo.. If it's looking beyond that... I'd have to consider what I could get in return before potentially having to let him walk away for nothing....
I hope he retires a Rocket... but you always have to consider the financial ramifications...

    Capela rebounds and blocks shots
Why does he need to be beefy

    You know who wasn't beefy?

Shaq wasnt backing down Hakeem in the post... how do you think CC would've fared against Shaq? ;)
Thats no disrespect to CC... but to compare him to Hakeem is just unfair...

    Are you drunk again? :D

Not sure you saw or read about Dieng much lately, he got paid (too much) and he has been pretty meh for all the season, no defense, mediocre (and probably inefficient) offense with no upside...

yea, pretty much, there are plenty of pick-and-roll combo-guards every year coming out in the draft or available in free agency -- dime a dozen. CC is not.
