Jesus. You can't give the guy the smallest credit for what he's built here. It wasn't easy to do that. Every GM but GS's is jealous. But you can't help taking a swipe at the guy.

This is obviously a stupid charge. It's well known Morey (and Les) have coveted Anderson and Gordon for years and we've had hints from insiders here to that effect, I'm pretty certain. They are obviously Morey type players and I know he openly coveted Anderson at least. Analytics were introduced in the way Morey introduced them in a way that validated the D'Antoni system. That "7 seconds or less" Suns team Les had so openly coveted since the time it happened... The entire Morey system is premised on what D'Antoni invented. You should read the story. That's what it's about.

So if you give credit to a GM/owner team that has assembled a great roster, you're not a fan, you don't care about the TEAM, man. I did not know that about myself. I thought I did care about them and I thought I was a fan. Thanks for setting me straight.

Right. You don't care about GM's. You just play one 50 times a day here. Almost all your posts are about front office decisions. Don't pretend.

Pretty crazy that at one point not too long ago, Morey was criticized for his analytics. They (namely Charles Barkley) said he was a geek, and didn't understand basketball like an ex-player would. Now not only are the Rockets winning by using his system, every real contender in the league is playing in the exact system he started emphasizing 10 years ago. The two teams in the Finals the last 2 years have predominantly used Morey-ball: 3's+dunks/layups, nothing mid-range. The whole league has become perimeter-oriented, because that's the most efficient way to score.

I'm biased as a Rockets fan and Morey fan, but I think his chances are excellent. He's mentioned in most stories about the team's success this year and it's been the fairytale story of the season so far. Things can always happen but even if we can't overtake GSW (and of course it's at least plausible though not likely) the shine coming off this team is hard to ignore. They have four all-stars and they're playing great. That's one story. Then there's our story, which is so much richer for its vindication of Harden, D'Antoni, and Morey (I remember the first #1 in the power rankings that read "Hail D'Antoni! Hail Harden! Hail Morey!"), the revival of Gordon and Anderson and Nene, the coming of age of Capela and Dekker and Harrell, the Pat Beverleyness of Pat Beverley, the Shane Battierness of Trevor Ariza, and most importantly the fun they're all having together.

And do you think free agents might be noticing? I sure do. That was my first thought on completing that article. I thought, "Oh! That's how we get major free agents in a minor market! We offer them FUN! Along with all the rest of it." It's fun that puts us over the top, it's the chemistry that's leading to good team offense and good team defense and the fun that's being had as a result of that. And that part is very hard to create among understandably large egos in every direction, but this year Morey found the missing pieces of the puzzle and they fit like magic as sometimes but rarely happens without a consortium of superstars anymore, and that's why I think he'll be executive of the year.

It was Morey's job to build the roster. When we lose, he gets a lot of blame. When we win like this, especially like this, he should get every bit of the credit the writer of the article gave him. I think the league will reward him similarly. If the team keeps this up, I'll be surprised if they don't.

Morey deserves credit for Harden, for Gordon and for this season.

Still we are lacking assets in form of draft picks for the next years.

One thing that makes Moray look great is the quality of his competition. I don't care what people say, the Harden trade was a no brainer landslide at the time even. Prestiagreeing to it and the other GM's passing was indefensible. Make no mistake, the brilliance of Harden is what makes it all happen. The discovery that 36% on threes is better than 43% on midrange is math my 10 year old niece could do. And they don't get those open threes without Harden. If the new additions were injured as per their history, moray would not get such praise either. Luck has been on our side

But I thought you didn't care about the "org" since you were a fan of the "TEAM!"

It's a shame how your need to feel superior to our GM (no matter who it is) robs you of the delight the rest of us are experiencing. For you, it's proof you've been wrong though so you can't enjoy it. (Because you're a "real" fan!) Sucks to be you.
