Glengarry Glen Ross is coming on Bravo channel at 2 AM Central, or about 5 minutes from now. I love to catch some of it any time it's on, and I imagine a few of you do, too.
Mamet is a first-class f!ckup, but he's a TREMENDOUS writer. Unsettling and funky. The soundtrack is nearly as cool as the movie. Much love for Blue Lou ...
Is Bravo a premium cable channel? Otherwise that whole movie may as well be one long sensor beep. That movie has some of my favorite acting ever!
There is alot of Mamet out there right now. In Houston, "American Buffalo" is playing at Country Playhouse and we open "Oleanna" October 3.
These are the new leads, the Glengarry leads. To you, these are gold. You do not get these. Because giving them to you would be throwing them away.
"What's my name? F*ck you, that's my name." "You came to work in a Hyundai, and I came to work in a $90,000 BMW." "See this watch? This watch costs more than your car." "Coffee is for closers only."
I dug that whole scene also. Pacino's bit at the end belittling Williamson after he opened his mouth was priceless. "You never open your mouth, until you know the shot."
There's a lotta talk about Pacino and Lemmon, but Baldwin's brief appearance was DANG good. In fact, I've probably never seen him in better form.
"You call yourself a salesman, you son of a b****?" "Have you made your decision for Christ?!" "Will you go to lunch? Go to lunch. WILL you GO to LUNCH?!" "You just cost me six thousand dollars. SIX THOUSAND DOLLARS!" Classic movie. I never get tired of watching it. Although those Pacino prank calls that hit the net a couple years ago make it hard for me to keep a straight face during his scenes in the second half of the film.
It can be ordered from DeepDiscountDVD for $7.97. That's including shipping. So now there's no excuse for anyone to not own this movie.
What a big man you are! Why don't I buy you a pack of bubble gum and show you how to chew it, you f@#$. Patel?!? The leads are weak? you're weak! Classic flick.
It was that wretched excuse for a human played by Lemmon that made the film. They were all good, but Lemmon's character is the seedy glue holding it all together. That scene where he's in the phone booth in the rain, shouting orders to imaginary subordinates. The smarmy attempt to tag along with the young guy trying to get rid of him. The look on his face as he realizes his moment of facing the music has come. Classic Lemmon.
I'll answer that by saying FORGET YOU was used at least 100 times. God how I hate hearing FORGET YOU spliced in.
