    Mike James also played Euroball.

As for players who are weak on D not gettign PT... how in the world did Head and Juwan Howard get minutes?

You think if Dirk was on his team that JVG would not play him. Hell, even Yao has more characteristics of a big Euro style player then a big American style player and I think JVG didnt have many problems playing him.

Not if you consider playing hard, and with heart part of that talent.

Look this is not a JVG vs. Adelman debate....

JVG had some amazing takes, and was a pleasure to listen to......while I may not agree with his methodology, I can certainly respect his passion and value system.

    DMorey recap: Part 1.

Asked what he was on the phone about, Morey says he was catching up with Adelman after he got back.

Talk about the streak and coming out of the break with a win, there was some rust, missed quiet a few of early shots, but defense still carrying the team and Defense is about effort and intensity, and he thought the Defensive effort was impresssive.

Asked about Rafer and his effort last night, asked if there was a sign in his game that he would be playing this well.

Morey - He has been on a steady boost of confidence and play, and credits Rafer for working hard on all parts of his game especially finishing....and the coaching staff gets credit for the offense they are running and how Rafer is confident in that. And, without Rafer the Rockets probably don't win last night.

Asked about yao and Tmac struggling, that it was nice to know that the rest of the team can pick up the slack.

Morey: The defense is better this year than last, and Rafer, Scola and Landry gave us a lift, and in the past, the Rockets would not have been winning games where Tmac and Yao were off.

Asked about the Western conference and how tight it is compared to history.

Morey: He doesn't look at it from a historical perspective but rather from what the team can control now, but some members of Rockets have looked at it, and said this is the strongest conference in history regarding the strengths of the conference. Wishes that we were the number 1 seed in the NCAAs and got to play a 16 seed, because every series in the Western conference is going to be a dog fight this year.

Asked how much he has been on the phone lately?

Morey: A lot, says the Rockets are generally pretty active in trying to get things done. Though that sounds strange due to the lack of moves since the off season. Pretty active in discussions but takes a lot of those discussions before a deal can happen that helps the team, but that with the trade deadline in place, these next 2 days get really active. Lots of talk around the league overall.

Asked about Tmac going to the hole and is he 100%?

Morey: You would need to ask Tmac that, and he agrees, that his aggressiveness late was really good. And thinks Tmac might be a little frustrated in that he has not had the results he is used to in the past and the team is not worried about him, and to his credit he is not using his struggles as an excuse, and likes Tmac being excited about his teamates and wants to jump into that party of being positive with the rest of the team as they continue to win.

    End Part 1

Odom sucks. Scola would be a better keep IMO. If you guys havent noticed, Odom has been the same since his damn rookie year! he hasnt learned any new moves or anything >_>

I don't understand what the big deal is. First of all, Odom is leaps and bounds better than Scola. He's a difference maker. He's been tearing it up the last couple of weeks.

Secondly, for a trade like this to happen, contracts would have to match. LA for one would not trade Odom for a powerforward. They have enough big men when Bynum gets back. They would never do this, and Kobe would surely be pissed if this happened because he doesn't like rookies very much either. JVG was just making a hypothetical suggestion, that's it.

Funny how Rockets fans bash TMac and Yao for choking down the stretch and not winning, yet the are very high on trading for Odom.

Odom in the 4th quarter of a regular game (forget about a game 7 in the playoffs) chokes on every play. Their last lost before the All-Star game, the play they had drawn up failed and Odom was left for a game-winning WIDE OPEN shot and what did he do? He AIRBALLED! And you guys want to add this guy next to Mac and Ming? Give me a break guys.

I talk to Laker fans all the time, and the one thing they agree with me on is, come in the fourth quarter, it is best to just bench Odom. He does not like to be put in pressure situations. He just plain chokes. He likes to be the 4th or 5th option on a team and just play without having the pressure of having to come through in the clutch or even make important plays. That is not what we need especially since everyone wants a legit 3rd scorer or a player with killer instincts.

So do we overvalue our players? Maybe! Do we overvalue other team's players? Greatly!

b/c he has always been at least a 2nd option player for those teams. now he's a 3rd option on the lakers and he's playing tremendous.

if he's on this team, he woudl be a clear-cut 3rd option guy. he can get us 10+ boards, dish out 5-6 diems, and score 14-15 pts. plus, he gives us another matchup problem for other teams.

odom > scola as a 3rd option no way around it. but the lakers are not that stupid to trade away odom.

Out here in Los Angeles, the just reported that the Lakers were offering Odom to Washington for Caron Butler. And the last two years, the Lakers has shopped him pretty hard, but didn't like the offers they were getting for him. So you never know!

But my original point was that if Rockets fans here on the BBS aren't happen with Yao and Mac's clutchness down the stretch, then how are you going to bring in a guy that chokes 10 times worst than those two are believed to do in important parts of the game?
