How many times do I have to tell you that I do not agree with your opinion regarding Basso? You've yet to convince me that you have the guts to stand up to people who you readily admit have publically pissed on handicapped families. Your motive is the same motive that you accuse Basso of. When I started reading Granville's posts a couple of pages ago, the hypocrisy annoyed me enough to type out a proper response close to what you've been doing, but reading through his posts it's clear he's not here for sincere debate. He just wants to claim the moral high ground (even if it means ignoring what everyone else says) and help the basso account look like the victim. As evidenced by all the responses of posters in this thread not named basso/Granville or MojoMan, the majority of people find the act of using your kid for political gain or win an internet argument more disgusting than use of a non-pc term or telling a parent to spend more time with their kid. As someone who has spent the majority of his life living under the same roof as his DS sister, I too find what basso does much more offensive, and I'm pretty sure my Mum would feel the same way.

Shouldn't you put up some sort of link or anything? I mean, that's quite an accusation. But I do see a lot of attacks on gays and lesbians by the way. Maybe that's what you are referring to?

It probably requires more emotional strength than raw intellect. What makes Sam an expert on who is a more appropriate parent for a DS kid? What gives him the right to suggest that the father of an autistic child might need to spend more time with his son? The Basso's are a family. The Palin's are a family and for it to be written here than she is a ******* giving birth to a ******* is an attack on a handicapped family. You read something like that and the best you can do is come here with some weak observation about gays and lesbians being attacked. You are a prime example of the herd mentality that exists around here. There's 2 families being attacked for you.

I'm pretty sure if someone told your mom that someone's lack of intellect makes them a more appropriate mom for a DS kid that she would be outraged. The most appropriate traits are the ability to provide unconditional love plus the ability to protect and provide for your child now and in the future. I'm also confident that your mother would cringe at the comparison that was made about Palin and her son.
Deck & rhad - that wasn't a granville quote. It was granville trying to quote one of Sam's mocking posts. Unfortunately, granville isn't particularly adept at using the quote function, so it looks like one of his own ideas instead.
