Sam Cassell: "I used to tease him (Clyde) a lot. Everybody prepared differently for a game. He prepared strangely; it was crazy to see. He was a guy who used his athleticism so much, but he didn't stretch, and he didn't shoot before the game. He sat there and read his books. I would come in after shooting and running around and I would be sweating. I would look at Clyde, and he still had his jacket and suit pants on, his shirt buttoned down with his legs crossed, reading some kind of novel. I was like, 'Ain't your body going to be tight?' He would laugh at me. He would walk on to the court, and his first layup would be a tremendous slam dunk. I would think, 'Damn!' I never saw a guy prepare like Clyde did. But he was always ready." Robert Horry: "Clyde is right up there among the greatest players I played with. I have been very lucky. Look at the team you could put together of my teammates- Hakeem, Shaq and Tim on the front line, Clyde and Kobe Bryant in the backcourt. That's a team I would take any time."
