Our shot selection and decision making was exceptionally poor last night .

3's are good if they are open , shots in general are good if they are open and in the flow of the offense .

The Spurs have disrupted our flow . Sure some of that is officiating , some is scheme by pop , some is just shitty play by us.

Lou Williams has reverted to an unconcious chucker ... And he's not making them . He's taking awful , quick 3's and is settling for off balance midrange shots far too often .

James , is also guilty of poor shot selection. Unfortunately , he might have the legitimate excuse of being injured which limits his ability to get certain shots.

The fact that Anderson , Gordon , bev , and Ariza have not been consistent knocking down open threes is also hurting us ... Frankly , we are doing well enough here... It's that our primary playmakers are not generating enough good looks.

Last game was infuriating ... Because they took away our shooters , but left Clint open for the alley oop quite consistently . James and Lou either did not recognize this , or just decided to try and score on their own anyways.

We missed at least 10 points off of sure oops that the PNR ball handler decided to keep and try a floater or contested layup instead .it was sickening .

To take away their second chance points. I prefer a Clint Nene combo rather than Ryan at the 5.. If Ryan isn't shooting the three, he provides little else. He was rebounding in game 1 but that was with Lee on the floor

I laugh at all the people who talk about high variance and that magically the shots will go in and the Rockets will be fine.

San Antonio has made adjustments that the Rockets can not adjust to. MDA is just saying we're not going to do anything different. Well, if that's the case - the Rockets won't make it past game 5.

Let's see how they play tomorrow - I think the series goes 6 games with SA winning, maybe 7 if the Rockets show some heart.

But the last two games do not bode well and it looks like SA knows how to contain the Rckets offense very well.

Agree to a certain extent . Hopefully dantoni was being coy ( not coach of the year coy ... But shy coy lol ) when he said that .

If dantoni doesn't make adjustments and we lose the next two games he should be fired on the spot . Sure, you wanna have faith in your players and scheme ... But that kind of stubbornness in the playoffs is inexcusable .

There are definitely adjustments we could make to what SA is doing ... Whether or not the players or the coaching staff has it in them to pull them off and execute is another story .

If Mike continues to play Ariza 45 mpg and kawhi keeps torching us ... That's a fireable offense .

If Mike doesn't adjust to LA and Gasol , that's a fireable offense . We took care of Memphis in the regular season by using an athletic 4 ( cough Dekker) and doubling at times . If we don't even try that here ... What does that say ?

if Mike is relying on us to "make 3's" despite the fact that a lot of the ones we are shooting are contested ... Then he needs to be fired .

    You are right.

There is no magic solution to the Rockets 19% unguarded shooting percentage last night

    It's not variance.

It's good unguarded shot defense by mastermind Popovich.

You make 7 games sound like an exposed failure. If the Rockets win 2 of next 3 to push this to 7, no one is going to be talking about SAS adjustments anymore.

I think it depends on how we win .

If we win simply because we get hot from three ,and some of the things the Spurs have done to adjust still hurt us ( we just end up winning ) then I think true SAS adjustments should be taken seriously.

Here's what the Rockets need to do IMO. Shoot a shitload of midrange jumpers in the 1H of Game 4 and then bury them with our normal offense in the 2H after they adjust. Rinse and repeat in Game 5 and going forward. Just take what they are giving. It really is that simple.

No. I strongly disagree. If we push this to 3-3, then MDA and Harden succeeded, because SAS has the better team. It would mean the better team and top defense is back at square one, picking a poison.

We weren't just 44% from 3 in Game 1, we had a freaking 40-point lead in the 4Q. If that happens again,,,these threads stop.

If we just barely win, but twice more, I don't think you are even going to be able to tell me what their adjustments are.

They didn't have anything solved in that 3rd Q when Harden took over, except some favorable calls and Simmons 3. What Pops has solved more is our bench offense. No one is talking about the truth of that because all these threads are agenda driven to support or bash Harden and MDA and practice your bbs arguments for the summer

..and few actually want to talk basketball, for real. That's why you ain't seeing me talk in these threads much the last two games,,,the agendas like bbholics and DDs and this OP are boring and lazy.

Would you say that the threes we took last night were good ?

I'll admit I don't remember entirely , but it didn't feel like we were missing wide open shots generated in the flow of the offense . We took too many rushed 3's it seemed .

I get what you are saying about picking your poison , game 1 wasn't that we were just hot , it was that we were aggressive on Offense and everything was coming in the flow ... That and our defense was incredible at leading to transition .

While our defense hasn't been bad the first 3 quarters of both game 2-3 , it hasn't been at the level it was at in game 1 ( sure some of that is likely the Spurs missing shots)

San Antonio HAS adjusted , and 2 games is a small sample size , but both by being better on offense and by playing harden to take away some of his facilitation ... They've turned the tide.

I haven't lost hope , D'antonio's system is still good . But the Spurs are also good . What I meant by "barely winning because we are hot" I meant the adjustments are the same ... Aka both team continue to play the same way as they have the last couple games ... And we just make more 3's .

If you think about that scenario, is pop likely to adjust again if he thinks we won because we were hot ? I still think the onus is on dantoni to come out with an improved defense ... In order to generate those transition points we need . We need to do a better job of executing when SA "picks it's poison"

I felt we left lobs on the table last night and instead took tough floaters .

I think that if gasol and La continue to work well together inside and make it tough for us to score in the paint and Simmons continues to bother us with his athleticism .... Hide adjustments will still be working even if we manage to hit tough 3's ... That's what I meant

I wouldn't say they have figured it out, we're just too stubborn to make in game adjustments.

These last two games also shows we are not ready for the next step. We missed a lot of wide open three pointers. We had players playing out their comfort zone.

I would like to see Wiltjer play. He can shoot. Troy is also another baller.

Pop seems to be the first coach to realize that if he stops our bench he wins.

Our bench has been mauling teams.

Maybe D'Antoni juggles minutes and substitution patterns

Holding serve at this point is not going to get us anywhere. I don't get why lasting 7 games is such a great accomplishment. People were so happy getting to 7 games a few years back against the Lakers even though we were blown out in every game we lost. I guess people think it's great when no one expected you to?

I dont think the Rockets have any chance of winning 3 of the next 4

Oh please - you go on these silly strawman attacks. I am talking basketball and here you are the one with the agenda. If I am boring you so much then go away! I guess Clutch has an agenda to since it seems he also wrote the Spurs have figured the Rockets out. What's his agenda????

If you read my posts you see that I am not attacking MDA or Harden. You know why? Because honestly the SPURS ARE THE BETTER TEAM. They have more talent than we do at every position than us except point guard.

MDA deserves coach of the year. But this offense can't beat a team like the Spurs. At the end of the day, only so much a coach can do. Only so much a team can do.

The Rockets came up with the best strategy they could have to beat the spurs. And now it's over. There are not any adjustments you can make against a superior team that has figured out your weaknesses.

The truth is - and you have accept it - this: The Rockets offense was able to exploit things against the Spurs, but the Spurs made adjustments to take away many of the Rockets advantages. There are no more adjustments the Rockets can make other than finding more talent in the next 12 hours.

I agree, they are too undisciplined on both sides. They rather hoist up contested three deep might I add. If those shots aren't falling, the heck with playing defense.

It would mean they beat us with more talent, not because of a failed system or superstar. I don't see what's so hard to understand about that, unless you just want to complain, and say all loses are complete failures.

I don't know who you are arguing with but it doesn't sound like you are arguing me because I haven't said anything contradicting what you wrote.

I never said we have as much talent, or that it was the system that was flawed, or that Harden was lacking. I have only stated that Spurs have figured out our offense. I think the issue is talent at the end of the day. One star is not enough - I've said that all along. I said that after we won game 1.

So what's your issue with me if essentially we are in agreement?
