Oh come on now. I am giving credit here to Van Gundy but lest youm forget he didn't earn the nickname Van Grumpy for nothing. None of us know who he is behind close doors but the JVG I have seen in the past has been less than positive about his team in the media. And I am not just talking about when they lose. One of my biggest problems with him in the past was they way he handled Yao. Well Yao made similar mistakes last night on offense and defense that would have gotten him screamed at in the past. I saw Jeff early in the game after a Yao turnover rub his hand across his face as if he was frustrated but then proceed to holler out Yao's name and say something positive to him. I have never ever ever seen him do that to Yao before.

SO don't kid yourself Van Gundy is different or at least pretending for the media to have changed. Even in the terrible loss when it was clear the Rockets played poorly he only pointed out the areas they needed improvement. For an example you need only read the other thread where he talks about the team not fitting just yet. He was right on and he improved on that bychanging the starting lineup which definitely made an impact. This the new and improved JVG and I for one like it. This team is a work in progress and they still don't have a rotation yet. Tmac is still adjusting we don't even know who the starting team is and Yao is only beginning to understand how dominant he is. And although I am one who never wanted Van Gundy on this team I am actually starting to feel okay with him and that is clearly because of his changed attitude. Again let's see if he keps it up.

Criticizing the Rox is fine. Dooming the team after one loss is what annoys me. Also so many people simply post that JVG sucks or Rafer stinks. What good does that do? Rox played great last night and crushed an elite team, but that doesnt mean I annoint them NBA champs just yet. It should work both ways.

Apparently the good that it DID is it lit a fire up their @SS3s and brought intensity to the rockets last night!!! You think JVG and Rafer don't go on the internet to read on their criticisms?? I'm sure they do...and JVG did his hw last night..when he didn't ..the team lacked intensity and chemistry..then he deserves to get criticized for that!! i mean the matchups were just plain horrible to begin with.. padgett on boozer??haha.
He apparently did some changes and the team even played well on both ends last night

    me two :D

Last season, Me and many other fans have said in this forum,
    1. Our offense can not just use one leg (half court), we need fast break and outside need to shot/hit the shot (especially do not hesitate to shot, need learn from suns).
    2. don't force to pass to yao.

after so long time, JVG finally figure out what we as fans see it long time ago.
    So no "props" from me.
