Only half wits here are those suggesting Head should be replaced by Snyder. First we're up 2-1, second all shooters have slumps. The half wits are the ones that forget how many money shots Head made during the regular season and his 44% 3 pt shooting and 177 threes knocked down. Snyder is an inferior talent whose game consists of slashing to the basket, getting fouled and missing his FTs.

What if Snyder was given a chance to play point? It's way too late in the season (likely way too late in his career), but just imagine if he could actually pull it off.

I know someone here created a thread on this (which I can't find).

    Also, I found this:
Grasping at straws here no doubt, probably just crazy talk from a (then) rookie...but man, wouldn't that be nice if, in some fantasy bizzaro world, it actually worked?

You are right sir- he lacks NBA experience- whose fault is that????

Leave Head in then - we can wait until he gets hot

On a serious note it would be more than a desperate move 4 JVG to actually play Spanoulis at this point , it would be like admitting he was wrong not to play him the whole season. Then again even if he did play him it's highly unlikely that he would play well, cause after all he really is inexperienced thanks 2 JVG.So 2 all the span fans don't hold your breath waiting 4 him 2 show up in the playoffs , it's not going 2 happen.
by the way snyder is better in general than Head but Head is a better shooter besides what he's showing now so VG is gonna stick with him .

    Absolutely Dog!

We are talking about Luther Head, one of the best players in the league the last month. Now we want to reduce his role because of one loss. One loss? One effing loss! I can go search his game log for the season and I am pretty sure I can find a succession of games where he was 2-16 and where you could say his role should have been reduced then you know what, theres no Luther Head on fire for the last month of the season, which means theres probably no homecourt advantage. This is weak. This is fickle. This is giving up on what got you there. This is throwing up your hands in desperation and scartching what has been a success for you the whole season because of three games and even at that only one of them was a loss. This is ridiculous.

I think Head needs to stay on the court.

We know he's a good shooter, and he's got to com out of it eventually. Actually scratch that, he's not just good - he was borderline great from range. His 44% from behind the arc was one of the elite marks in the league this year (IIRC - 3rd overall).

Let's face it - wihtout Head shooting well, though the Rockets can beat Utah, they can't beat anybody else. He's a critical element to success and ditching him now is counterproductive in the long run, IMO.

If he can keep shooting at high percentage, there is no doubt he should play.

But the reality is that he is struggling right now, to make things worse, he is getting abused at defensive end by bigger, stronger players.

It really is up to him to perform at the level he shows in regular season to stay on the court. Otherwise, he is a liability.

All Rockets can concentrate on is how to win next game in this series. I don't agree benching him (if his shooting is still cold) will impact him in next series.

I suggested several months ago that if Snyder didn't get Head's minutes should we meet Dallas in the playoffs then we have no shot. I didn't realize Head would pull his disappearing act one round earlier than expected but it really isn't a surprise.

Why not? When your shots aren't falling in, don't you drive and attack the basket to get fouls? Kirk is just the guy...
Who would you have turned to then? Vspan?

Sorry friend- Head has been AWOL this whole series.....he cannot defend Harpring. Head cannot backup Rafer at the 1. It is painful! Head is a liability. This will be painful waiting for him to show up. I am confident he will be played. No way in hell Spanoulis gets 1 minute of playing time.

Why are you not surprised - are you saying that Head has a history of this kind of thing?

That's kind of difficult considering that he's a second year player in his first ever playoffs.

Sounds to me like you're a luther basher/hater. Yawn.

T-Mac can't defend Harpring. What are you talking about?

Head has been ineffective for 3 games. Lets not make this more than it is. If Head is ineffective for the next 3 games, then you can talk about a whole series. We are talking about 3 games that the Rockets have won 2 of. Head is a streaky shooter, my god, if you have been watching the season, I mean really paying attention, you know Head could make 10 of his next 12 threepointers, ending this baby in 5. It is painful watching him struggle, but you have to stick through it. The Rockets success depends on, absolutely depends on, spacing the floor with shooters. Snyder is not that type of player. You have to keep hoping Head finds his rhythm, the only way you can do that is by letting him shoot his way out of it and hanging in there as a team and thats exactly what the Rockets are doing.

Snyder is horrible. They would do much worse if snyder got head's minutes. Kirk cannot shot at all and cant defend any better than Luther. Luther deserves those minutes.

Realistically, is Utah going to let Luther Head kill them from the 3pt line. Give Utah some credit, they have taken away Head's only weapon. The Jazz are closing out hard and fast on the rocket perimeter shooters. This is the playoffs and not the regular season, where you get alot of uncontested and unhurried 3pt shots. The Jazz defenders are crowding every shooter out there and taking everyone out of their comfort zone. If I'm Jerry Sloan, I would keep punishing Houston everytime Head is in the game by posting him up with his bigger guards. Head's only chance of getting a solid in rhythm 3pt look is for T-Mac to attack the basket and hope for a kick out pass.

Head always disappears against Dallas because of how well they defend the 3. Then, they abuse him on the other end with bigger players. Utah is doing the same thing so it should be no surprise that Head looks lost.

And I could not care less if you think I'm a Luther basher/hater. The guy is sucking big time and there is no reason to think that isn't going to end.

It's almost statistically impossible to be worse on offense than Luther is right now. He is practically getting raped on the defensive end as well. We KNOW Snyder goes to the rim hard and is a bigger, stronger defensive player so how anyone can think Snyder can be any worse than Luther at this point is beyond me.
