I think Rafer is not as bad as the Rafer-haters suggest, but there are plenty of times when I curse him out while I'm watching the games on LP. I'd be happy if he could just improve his shot selection. Otherwise, I think he's serviceable. I can't be the only one that holds my breath when JVG has Head playing PG...that's just a TO waiting to happen. I'd much rather take my changes with Skip...
he doesnt give tmac the ball sometimes. sometimes he feels he has to go one on one with bibby in overtime
he penetrates and throws up the floater......he never penetrates and looks to pass is what i was saying
im just wondering.... rafer lovers, where are yall at when he's going 6-14 and 5-16???? yall show up everytime he has a good game. rafer has one good game for every 5 or 6 bad games...
where were you when your boy went 2-14 against Minnesota? whats your take on that game? please tell me. i want to know
and maybe thats all he needs. one good game, the one when tmac needs someone else to step up... maybe we can do fine with him sucking 4-5 games at a time...
Alston is terrible, that's why the team plays so much better when he's not on the court and better players like Luther Head takes over with his sweet shooting. http://www.82games.com/0607/06HOU2D.HTM Oh wait.
Haha i'm far from a Rafer lover...there's been many times when I've wanted to choke his little skinny ass for doing something stupid (see Denver game lost in OT) I was merely defending him from unfair criticism. You guys make him out to be worthless when he really does have a skill set that is very complimentary for our team, does he make bad decisions...absolutely. But could we honestly expect a better point given that we have two max contract guys on our team who need the ball on offense...no way. Like I said, where was the outcry for derek fisher to drive and dish on the Lakers championship teams? Rafer deserves credit for having a great game against Miami and setting the tone for that easy win along with TMac...Rafer makes the game easier for everyone on the court...please rewatch the NO game and tell me what happens when we take Skip off the court.
No, im not saying he's not the best PG on our team. I would rewatch the NO game and i will see that he's very valuable to the team...but dont confuse value for skill level and decisoin making
YES! he had a great game against Miami. He made his open threes. I wish he did that more often...If he plays like he did against Miami (not every game, but most games), i'd be perfectly happy with Alston
The truth is, Rafer is the point guard we are going to live with till the end of the season. So try to love him, because he is a Rockets. And IMO, he is doing a decent job out there. I like the statement in the openning post, that is by the law of average, you are just not going to get the best or semi-best in some positions when you already have two best players in the league in your team. Rafer had an awesome game against the Heat ... even attacking the shaq-daddy with this nice tear-drop: More Pics
the little running dance thing rafer did after that tear drop was hilarious. i loved it! i like to see when the guys are having a good time out there. makes it mean so much more.
