Kobe helps Tracy and Tracy helps Yao Ming. It will be interesting to see how Shaq is doing against Yoa. If Kobe and Tracy are going to the paint and drawing Shaq away than Yao would be open going to the basket

OFF TOPIC: Any of yall watching the All Star practices? The West's practice was fun to watch, Avery Johnson ran some pretty cool drills, you could tell that he is capable of balancing fun basketball and serious basketball.

I agree...!! In the arena of intense competition where the NBA`s very best players tenaciously fight each other all season long, a real basketball fan, frankly, a true Rocket`s fan, should be able to appreciate Kobe`s gesture to help another key competitor come out of his funk...The All Star game provides the setting and atmosphere for that to take place. Are you nuts?? This is not about Kobe self promoting his own game, you idiots, nor, is it even about the All Star game itself, it is about how those who are in that fraternity of greatness hailing one another with respect and honor. There is a code among the greatest players that supercedes what we as fans can ever fully know, but we do know that they want the hometown All Star to look good! Hate Kobe if you must, resent his past misdeeds, but be smart enough to appreciate his extra-ordinary ability and, most of all, of his desire to help your best player get his A-game back, because without it we are done. If the character of most posters in this thread is indicative of those fans in the stands, no wonder we have been so miserable at home...Come on, tell me you guys are better...and smarter... than this...

Yes, and why Shaq or Hakeem will never be as great as David Robinson.
And why John Stockton and Magic Johnson will never be as great as David Thompson, and why soooo many will never be as great as Joe Fulks!

Why not? Kobe is to Jordan what Tiger is to Jack...it's only a matter of time.

The first thing I remember with Kobe and the ASG is when he waved away Karl Malone's screen and drove it in for a missed layup.

Not that I felt sorry for poor Karla's hurt feelings....

Nah I don't think so. Without Shaq, Kobe is just Dominique Wilkins. Kobe's team will miss the playoffs again this year and people will see now that Kobe is more like Scottie Pippen was to Jordan, a great sidekick.

Umm no. I dont like Kobe's personality but I am not going to deny his talents. Kobe has a complete game. He can score and shut down people and he is mentally tough. Dominque was a scorer. He still does not know how to spell defence.

People love to bring up how Kobe only won when Shaq was there. How many rings did Shaq win before Kobe became a great player? Before Kobe became great, the Laker with Shaq in his prime used to get embarassed by jazz and such in theplayoffs. Shaq should be thankful he got 3 rings while playing with Kobe just as Kobe should be thankful he got his while playing with Shaq. I have seen games in playoffs where Shaq was sitting on the bench either because of foul trouble or because of him being a liability from free throw line. Kobe has carried the lakers in clutch moments. Kobe has practically no supporting cast right now. Give him a good supporting cast and then we can talk.

Ill tell you what I'm sick of. TNT's attempts to make Kobe look like a nice guy with this hurricane human intrest story. UGH! What a joke. Why does the media have such a crush on him and is so intent on repairing his image? Let's not forget WHY his image needs repairing. :(

Kobe is great. That's an understatement.

Kobe is Jordan. That's a false statement.

Wait until Kobe's career is over. Then you can compare the 2.

But for now, how could you compare Jordan to Kobe!? Different times, different game almost. Jordan scored 69 in a game where defense was much more phsyical, I don't think Kobe could have delt with the defense Jordan did and score 81. Or 69.

Who has the higher ppg average over his career?

    Who has more rings?

    Who has more MVP titles?

Who has more defensive player of the year titles?

You can't compare them. Not yet, at least.

The fact is that Kobe's statement was arrogant. T-Mac might need help with personal problems, but he doesn't need help on the court. Kobe may or may not have meant what he said. I don't care, it was arrogant thing to say that at the same time kind of insults T-Mac by insinuating he needs help.

That wasn't Kobe's intention I am sure, but it does show an inherent arrogance about him, that makes him an ass.
