    Cons:
    1. Odoms does not come with no risks. I hear that he has 2 strikes. One more and he is gone. The Rockets have been burned before by Mitchell Wiggins and Lewis Lloyd and John Lucas I believe and lost them to drug abuse.

    2. Injury for extended part of last season.

    3. Career: only 1 Steal , 3.42 TO , 69.5% FT, 30% 3-ptr, 44% FG

    Pros:
    1. Team player

    2. 16.3 pts, 7.5 reb, 4.9 ast, 1.4 Blk

    3. Still young

What do you do ? I think that the Rockets should inquire about him.

Compaq, that does not appy to Odom's case. The rule is for serious drugs (coke, etc..), pot is not in that group.

In that case he should be more attractive.
Thanks barbourdg for pointing this out.

bigboy..... You cannot blame Odom's 3rd year performance, when he missed most of the season. He improved on every category during his first two years. That team has so much young talent, it does not matter what they did when he was out..... Does Vince Carter suck, since Toronto played a million times better without him?

As far as Miles & Richardson not being on the trading block, look at their contracts. Clippers will loose Odom (next year) if they do not resign him now. Sterling is prepared to possibly max out Brand & Kandi. All reports are stating that Odom is the odd man out, since they cannot afford to max all three this year.

Odom would solve most of our SF & offensive problems. I have never read one article that said Odom would be anything but a super star in this league. He is still only like 22 years old.

I would add another con about his drug problem. Yes, if he does drugs again he won't get kicked out of the league. YIPEE! But, how could he get caught twice? The first time can easily be overlooked. It was a mistake and he should have learned from it. But for the second time, at some point he must have made the decision, "should I take a puff and risk being suspended from my team AGAIN, or should I not do it and make sure I don't let my teamates down AGAIN by missing a couple of games." Obviously, he chose wrong. This means he's either stupid or he just doesn't care. He knew he was going to be tested again...did he actually belive he was going to beat the drug test? Probably not...I don't think he's that stupid. So, what other explanation is there than to say he just doesn't really care? Complete lack of professionalism. This is the biggest reason why I'm not completely sold on him.

    D-Up-
    Are you kidding?;) J/K.

You have a valid point. I agree that Cuttino would be a better player if he would pass a bit more. But that will come. (Evolution of a player)

He is a shooting guard. His role on this team is to score. I believe he has the Jerry Stackhouse syndrome. Did you notice how Jerry played prior to this year? He was a ball hog. This year he started to get his teammates involved and finally realized that teamwork is the only way to WIN. Next year will be the year Cat realizes that.(hopefully) The Rockets did not become champions until Dream learned how to pass out of the double team.(coincided with better talent)

Let's give this team one more year before we trade the core.(big 3) If we can get a player like Odom without giving up the big 3 then I am all for it. However, this team needs to be given a chance. Our problem is on the defensive end. Odom will not improve the defense. The offense will come givem ample time.

KT and 15 for Odom, not anything more. How do we pay all of these salaries without going over the luxury tax threshold?

I agree with his potential. I do not agree with the idea of trading any of our big three to get him.

Questions for those of you that believe Cat for Odom would be a good trade?

    1) If LA cannot Max him then how can we?
    2) Who will take Cat's slack on offense? Odom? Who is the goto guy? Steve then who?
    3) Who would be a better team after this trade? IMHO, adding a scorer to LA makes them stronger than the Rockets getting an all around player. LA has a bright future. I would not want to risk making a potential rival for the next 10 years stronger. Maybe, it would be easier for me to agree with this trade if LA was in the East but I doubt it.

I agree Bigboy..... I would never trade any of our three to get him. He is easy to acquire at this point, but will the Rockets take a crap shot on draft night or deal for proven talent (and more)...

    WHY??

Why is a Cat 4 Odom trade even being discussed? I mean, what does LA want in Mobley anyway? They already have two top notch SG's in Maggette and Richardson and throw in Piatowski as well.

Not only that but I see no reason for Houston to send Cat packing....

If the ROX want Odom, Im sure they can get him and a lottery pick for the #1-

It's not very fair to write Odom off just yet based on this past season. Elton Brand came in and became the #1 option for the clips, you have to factor that into his numbers. Add the suspension for weed and the season ending wrist injury and that makes for a bad season. I still believe he has the ability to be one of the best all around players in the league, which he's proven in his first two seasons. I'd love to see him on the Rockets just for his ability to be a point forward which would allow Steve to play off the ball without having the small lineup with Mooch. I don't think that it will be necessary to give up Griffin in a trade to get him and I hope the Rockets wouldn't be willing to do that.

In Lamar's decision to smoke pot we must all remember that he is playing for the Clippers. If he had an owner/coach/players who gave a damn, he may have made better decisions. There are worse habits to have as a basketball player.

This is coming from someone who does not advocate pot. Please do not mention "Austin Hippie" please.

I dont see why people wouldnt trade #1 for odom and 12 or 8, they act like ming is going to be awsome. I would be happy to get odom for #1, because he is a proven star and ming obviously isnt.

Nope, not for the #1. Not gonna do it. Must add mucho more to get #1 pick from Rocks. And I wanna say "Austin Hippie!" at least once. Couldn't help myself. I live in Austin, so it's O.K.! "Austin Hippie!".

All I can say is last season Mobley was only player on our team who shot good from the outside. We're already the worst shooting team in the NBA after Golden State. If we trade Mobley for Odom we'll be even worse.

I wanted to stay out of this, but this has got to be the weakest argument for accepting a troubled player that smokes weed and doesn't care about his team I have ever heard.

I would like to issue a challenge.

If anyone can come up with a weaker reason to take on a pothead loser than this please post here.

This is classic. (read in whining tone)"I'm a Clipper. If my owner/coach/players cared about me I would never smoke weed again I promise." BS.

I still can't decide: draft J-Will for Lamar and #8 or draft Ming.

We'd be a pretty good team with Lamar and, say, Nene Hilario (if Hilario isn't bound to Vasco da Gama, his team in Brazil, for the next year).

By the way, J-Will is coming to the Rockets for a June 18 workout.
