Might be truth to this...figurin give Parsons big minutes to inflate his value, then package him for a top tier sf - then have Morris as bu....
There's no reason MaMo can't get Bud's minutes from tonight's game. People talk about JHill's inconsistency on a nightly basis but Bud's just as bad.
Very well written. And I agree with you but he's got to find his way in. The fact that Bud has so little aggression, that might be his ticket in. Show that contrast between himself and Bud in practice and then force McHale to give him his shot. Personally, I think MM has a ton of potential...but then again, I was a big supporter of Derrick Chievous, too.
Isn't it just normal for people to "earn" things in life though? It's not like the Knicks just gave Lin an opportunity for no reason either. The Knicks had no PG and were forced to play Lin simply because everyone else sucks. D'Antoni didn't just decide to let Lin play for the hell of it. On the flip side of the coin, there have been many, many examples of young draftees who came out feeling entitled for playing time, touches, and never tried to develop their games. The general concept of making players earn their way seems much more reasonable than the other way around.
We're no better than the 7th or 8th best team in the West. Period. We're a nice little team with a scrappy, "Little engine that could" mindset. As currently comprised, that's all we'll ever be. Putting Marcus in the lineup for 10 minutes/game to see what he's got isn't going to jeopardize a single thing. We're not exactly in the race for the West.
Welcome to the board OP, but I do have a problem with threads like this because its all problems with no solutions. You shouldnt make a thread just to b**** out... Bring some more analysis or insight to the conversation please. As for Morris not playing- If you have followed the Rockets since the D-League became relevant you know that a first year rookie with the team generally spends the first half of the season in the D-League. Brooks did it, Landry did it, Patterson did it, and now its Morris that did his time. Also, if you followed their tenure after the all-star break you would notice that every single one of those players got their shot after a trade deadline move that opened up more playing time. So chill and wait to see what Morey has in store for the roster in the second half of the season.
You don't play someone "just because you drafted them". There's PLENTY of time to play Marcus Morris. We have him for 4 years if we want. It's certainly not uncommon for some coaches (old school ones in particular) to give rookies an extended "learning" process where they don't play much (if at all) before the all-star break. One of the hardest things about coming in to the NBA is the length of the season. Morris has been saved from our longest road trip, and has spent some time learning to play a new position. Just because you played a 4 in college doesn't mean you're a 4 in the NBA - our staff decided that they wanted Morris as a 3, and so drafted him as one in the full knowledge that he needed to learn the spot. So far he's been given ample opportunity to get his own shot in the D-League; now he's been recalled, has time to gel over all-star weekend, and may well get some minutes down the stretch. Even if he only plays this year in blowouts, there's no point whinging about it. These things take time, and while we're in the playoff hunt, the guys who EARN the minutes should be playing. Nobody should be playing simply because they're a rookie.
Vucevic would be higher if he was more athletic. He is already more than developed.... need someone with more upside for total domination.
He wasn't available at the position they drafted, and you would have a hard time finding any team that would have drafted Vucevic over Morris in the lottery. Morris has a much higher "potential" to be an all-star type of player. Keep in mind that his performance tonight against the Rockets was career high setting. Scola almost always gives someone on the opposing team a career night every single game. That being said, if he was available with their second 1st round pick he would have been a no-brainer. Donatas has a much higher ceiling but Vucevic is a definite "safe pick" late in the 1st round.
Right now it makes no sense to play him... i mean in the last few games. The games have been too close don't want to screw anything up. Once we have a big lead or really need him due to other players sucking then don't play him now. Put him in when the time is right... gotta be smart about this.
