I agree on Lucas, Novak and Kill Bill should be on rotation so they can build up their skills and confident. Other than that, i like Tmac doing pretty much what Tmac is known when he was with Orlando with out giving Tmac that silent treatment. Great job coach!
The only fair comment and argument against V-Span....the problem is that there are very few practices during the regular season, so basically this will be a wasted year for our future PG. A year when it has clearly been proven that PG is our weakest position. I say: Start Rafer Play V-Span as backup and if he does well great, if not yank him. DD
This is a major distortion of the truth. Besides, you are the one calling for him to play at PG, where his TO numbers are sure to go up (we've covered this all before). But you're right. I have been too hard on Billy. I honestly think he's a good prospect who could contribute significantly down the line. That said, he's not ready now, and we need guys who can contribute now and not make mistakes. Right now, JL3 fits that profile more than V-Span. Either way, you keep saying that you only want V-Span to play limited minutes to see how he does, right? Without going into how JVG has already tried that, how can you say JVG sucks when your only legit. criticism is over 10 minutes PT for one player? Something here doesn't add up.
V-Span got his chance, just because he is played at the 2 doesn't mean he still can't play his game. He still got chances to create with the ball, sometimes it worked, other times it didn't. Head was forced to play PG last year and some this year and he still played his game. Luther didn't let being "out of position" effect him. V-Span was ahead of JL3 in the rotation once the season started. But when it came time to play a backup PG, JVG skipped VSPAN and went to JL3. V-Span couldn't produce off the bench so he tried something new and went with JL3. JVG sees VSPAN's game more than you every will. Don't you think he'd know to play VSPAN if he saw him as the next Steve Nash and knew he would contribute right away? He said himself he plays whoever gives us the best chance of winning. HAHAHAHA, let me get this right. IF we lose in the 1st round, it'll be because VSPAN did not play? C'mon Billy, you're getting too full of yourself. And until he starts making his jumpshots, the Steve Nash comparision is far off.
LOL at HP. I know "our opponents" means Spurs to you. My notion of "our opponents," however, is the Lakers. I wish JVG could device something that everybody could copy to beat the heck out of the Evil Empire.
I will give him credit for leaving the most talented PG he has on the bench. Sure, leave a guy who destroyed Chris Paul and Kirk Hinrich at the world championships on the bench and keep a guy shooting around 30% running the show. WHAT THE FRACK EVER !! DD
i will give jvg credit as a great defensive coach...and nothing more. he has done nothing to ADVANCE this team as far as: - establishing an effective and creative offensive scheme - developing players as a COACH should do. when was the last time a player actually got any better by coming to play for JVG? personally i don't think jvg aided the development of yao more than any other coach could've. which is more of a testament to his work ethic than anything else. - handling the rotation vs. simply playing his pet favorites. jvg will play his vets simply bc they are that: vets. they are given the benefit of the doubt over and over again bc some OTHER coach played them and allowed them to earn their credibility. rookies make mistakes, but rookies will remain rookies until they're actually given a chance to develop in gametime environments. 45 seconds of garbage time does not gametime environment make. bc we're in a win-now aka jvg-must-save-his-own-ass mode, we get a lot of the problems mentioned above. one thing i WILL credit to JVG is the team chemistry. he's done a good job of developing a unified atmosphere within the locker room, and it shows. i'm sure a lot of this has to do with being a student of riley, but i've never seen a team quite like our 04-05 team. it was my favorite season ever as a rockets fan, even on par with our championship years. disappointing end for sure, but the most fun i'd had with the rockets in a decade.
Assistant coach's leash is short. No matter how much you guys want to handle his every bundle with an apology. It shouldn't take 10 years of coaching a team before you realize he cannot get it done. Going on year 6 now. I say if he can't get the team over, let him go. I don't want to hear what the alternative is. You will never know as long as he is in the way.
I dont really mind jvg being coach as long as we have progress and so far there is great progress. We are winning games and thats wats most important. So give that man some slack
While you may never have said Nachbar would be a great player, you use to always contended that he would be a good player who could start, be a solid starter or 3rd option average 10 points per and JVG was wrong and stubborn for playing JJ over him. And despite your contention that "that is exactly what he is now" playing for New Jersey, the fact simply is, HE is not any of those things, but rather a 10th man who avgs 5 points per game on 36% shooting. If that is your idea of what a 3rd or 4th option should be, rafer alston could be your 1st or 2nd option type player. While V-Span should not shoot threes, it will be the only shot available to him if he were to get significant and consistent minutes playing time, whether at the one or the two. Opposing teams will simply back off him when he has the ball, giving him ZERO options to penetrate and will not bother closing out on him when he recieves the ball from the post. If you think Rafer's shooting is bad, (which it is) V-span will be horrendus as teams decide not to even bother guarding him beyond 16 feet. V-Span HAS gotten minutes and he has played poorly. And as you stated "if he plays badly he plays less" that is exactly what happened with Spanoulis. Does JLIII not count as others? Is he not getting a chance? Or is it when you say the plural "others" you only refer to the singular Spanoulis, similar to when you often comment "JVG doesnt play young guys" and forget to remember that Hayes and Head are extactly old.
No doubt he obviously doesn't read the entire thread. I have been saying I am glad that JL3 is gettting some run, and deserves more of it. And, I want Head to start at PG..... What I really want is Alston off the court...but I know that JVG likes the rythmn he runs the team with, so we are stuck with that horrible Rafer for James trade. Nice one JVG...you sink or swim with our worst starter. BRILLIANT !! DD PS. If Boki were on Phoenix he would average 10+ ppg...he needs to be on a running team.....not New Jersey..Jason Kidd of 10 years ago...
What part of TOO SLOW and CAN'T SHOOT don't you understand? Parker developed because he had natural tools to develop. What does Spanoulis have? Even mentioning him the company of Parker, or Ginobli is silly.
could not have said this better myself. vspan should be given a shot he could not do much worse than rafer
The part that says he was TOO fast for Chris Paul and Kirk Hinrich at the world championships...... Oh wait....you are talking out your anus...sorry. DD
I responded to your posts point by point and instead of refuting or accepting my arguments you simply accuse me on NO BASIS of, of not reading the enitre threads. As in all your statements, you seem to forget that just because you say it, doesnt make it true or likely or even possible. How do you know I "obviously" did not read the entire thread, when my post has covered more than 4 pages of it? Lastly agreeing with a childish remark from a childish poster that again provides no basis for its assertation does not make you seem any less ridiculous but usually more. p.s. regarding nachbar, saying he would hypothetically avg 10+ point on pheonix does not make you predictions about him true, nor is it likely that he would even get significant playing time much less avg 10pts per. In case you arent aware, IF nachbar was in Pheonix, he would be behind, Barbosa, Kurt thomas and JJones off the bench. And since Dantoni plays a 9 man rotation, he would not only have to be ahead of Jalen Rose, Jurmaine Jones and marcus banks but also have to BEAT OUT James Jones for a shot at a rotation spot. If and only if he manages that can he then magically score 10 a nite on 13mins a game (which is what james jones avgs).
