How am I wrong? A couple of good games erases all the terrible games he had? I'm still right, Juwan is not the perfect fit for this team. If we can someone who can board and play defense and compliment Yao, I'm all for it. You realize that Yao's lower numbers and Juwan's higher output is not a coincidence. The last game Juwan played well in the later part of the game, but he was 1-7 earlier and was bricking like he usually does. Juwan is also late on his defensive rotations. Don't annoint him Carl Herrera just yet guys. I hope Juwan does well. but next year, I'd rather have someone else as PF. Either Mo or Juwan has to go. What if Mo has a good game? Am I the only one who remembers how well he played against the Lakers last year in the playoffs? I'm not here to cause to trouble. I'm just here to do the Super Bowl Shuffle.
Ive been surprised by how he has been able to contribute to the club. earlier this season I thought Mo Taylor would have been the better forward to keep as a backup....not any more.
Wake up from your deep sleep! Juwan Howard is a cancer to the team exactly like Bob Sura... they are both very streaky and inconsistent and they need a lot of shot attempts.. save those shot attempts for Yao
I would have to disagree to some extent. Both Howard and Sura took a lot of shots in the past few games and that's becasue the defense is giving them the shot and daring us to beat them with it. In the Dallas game they slacked off Howard the whole game and gave him that 16 footer from the top of the key each time he came down the floor. He was hitting it all night. Without him hitting those open looks we would have lost that game. When the defense sits there and gives you and open look and says that they dare you to shoot and they are more worried about Yao and T-mac you have to take advantage. Some games they won't give him that shot and the will play Yao straight up or even T-Mac straight up so they don't look for their shot as much like in NJ. I was at that game and they were making sure Howard did not have that easy shot on the top of the key. Instead they left Sura open from the outside and dared him to shoot and he did. When you are left wide open by the defense you have to take those shots to make them come out and guard you then opening up Yao or T-mac for shots. If they want to double someone who is hot or they think will beat them that will open up shots for other players. Remember the Lakers game? They basically guarded yao and T-mac and dared the rest of the team to beat them. What was the problem? We couldn't hit those shots to save our life and they knew that they could stop yao and t-mac and the rest of the team couldn't do a thing to help us. It's not like Sura and Howard go out there and say i am going to take shots away from Yao. They go out there and play their roles and when a defense slacks and lets them shoot they have to take the shot. That's how an offense is run. And in the NJ game Yao was not going to do anything since the start so someone had to step up and Sura did by nailing all the open jumpers that they gave him.
sura hasn't backed up a good shooting night with another the following game, t-mac is breaking down, yao's another bad game waiting to happen, the spurs are out of their mini-slump, and hungry for revenge. if juwan can deal against the spurs then he's for real.
I agree that neither Sura or Howard can bring a second good game in a row. That's why it's nice to have one step up here and there. That 3rd scorer whether it is Wesley, Howard, or Sura; someone has to step up. That is the thing we need and i don't care which one of them it is as long as they do it
Is Howard guarding Duncan??? Howard's defense is poor and look for Yao to pick up a lot of fouls playing help defense because Howard, whom some of you think is so awesome can't handle his own man
Of course we are not saying that Howard can hold Dunca. There is only a handful of people that can guard him or even try to. Your argument doesn't prove anything to me.
Juwan 1-6, 5 pts, 5 boards, 4 fouls. Yup. Thought so. Juwan can't hang when there are more athletic PFs near the rim. Man I wish the Rockets signed Stromile Swift!!
We were too busy trying to convince Ward to sign that 3-year deal. But Swift would be a nice addition to the team this summer.
I've been pretty vocal about Juwan Howard and his lack of bringing anything to the court after being promoted as our "3rd option." But lately he's starting to turn it around. And I've noticed. And I'm very pleased by what I've seen from his game overall lately. Keep it up Howard!
