I wouldn't give him the trophy yet. RGIII wasn't the front runner until the amazing pass against OU. The next 4 games will dictate if he wins the heisman or not.

I don't think the Browns would take him over Barkley.

BTW, Smith is more Graham Harrell than RGIII. He's a very good system quarterback. I see him going in the late 1st round or the 2nd round.

No way. At the moment, he's playing very well but he will have to sustain it the entire season. Everyone was ready to crown Denard Robinson when he first came onto the scene and he ended up well, you get the idea. At the moment though, Geno Smith is pretty good.

Graham Harrell wasn't even drafted. So if he is getting drafted in the 1st he is closer to rg3 than Harrell. He doesn't have the speed of rg3. He has great accuracy. The only thing that might hurt him is that he seemed to have a long time to throw and he might not get that in the pros. He threw for like 400 yards against lsu.

Although he is athletic, he doesn't throw on the run that well and he has no touch or arch on the long ball. He's playing in the same system as Harrell which is why I'm saying he's closer to Graham Harrell.

RGIII also played in a pass happy system, but he made throws that would work in any system. His ability to throw accurately on the run rivals the best NFL quarterbacks which is why he has one of the top QB ratings in the NFL.

At no time did Denard Robinson play like this.

The Heisman is his to lose but it's way too early to anoint him the #1 pick of the draft.

Yeah, it's way too early to annoint him the #1 pick of the draft. But I'm doing it anyway. That performance was epic. I suspect he'll have huge games from here on out.

I don't see the upside in him that I saw in RGIII. He's reminding of Andre Ware and Klinger at the moment. Maybe that will change after the next few games and he shows me something more than the ability to hit wide open receivers.

Or Andre Ware or David Klingler or Vince Young or Tim Tebow etc.....

So many great football players are a product of the system they played in. Big deal, they were still great at that level. Smith is a great college QB, that much is not debatable.

Unless Matt Barkley turns into a machine like he did last year about this time, I don't think a QB will be the #1 pick in the draft next year.

    Barkley doesn't impress me.

Geno Smith, I like his pedigree.

He's a brilliant human being, athletically gifted and a scholastic phenom.

Soon the black QB will finally take over the NFL with his combination of size, speed, and intellect.

Replace black with white and you'd be banned instantly. Kinda funny.

And of course it's too early to give the Heisman to Geno Smith. He is who we thought he was. But if you want to crown him, then crown his ass.

No doubt he is a great QB, and will probably win the heisman if he plays well against the rest of the Big 12. However, I have my doubts about him being a top 10 NFL pick.
