Mavs fan here. Presuming he comes back healthy and playing like he did last year, I want the Mavs to max out DMo next summer as he fits our needs to a T. He's a stretch 4 who can fill in for/replace Dirk, or he can start as a legitimate 5 next to Dirk. I know he's an RFA and all, I just wanted to help you guys understand that other teams will likely offer DMo a max, because we all saw how much he helped Houston with Dwight out last year. His skill set is really unique - he's a stretch 5 like Kanter but with post defense. If Kanter gets a post-rookie scale max, I don't see why Motiejiunas wouldn't. If the Rockets are smart, they let Howard walk, use his money elsewhere and then match any offers for DMo.
I should have clarified. I'm not saying he do something at this moment, but dmo is invaluable to what we try and do. He is somewhere in between boris diaw and draymond green.
And Howard not missing two out last three games would have helped the team greatly as well LOL. Eveyone on this team outside of Harrell and Thornton (one game) is playing like utter crap and looks lost at times. Having DMO back at a 100% would obviously help but the team would still be trying to find its chemistry at the moment and they have been beat by 20pts a game for the first 3 games LOL.
