James White has to get some more PT to show off his game. This kid has talent, and I think he's ready to show it. Staying before and after practices really shows that he's working hard and if he can get into the rotation (dk if that will be possible) then we can add another guard similar to Von Wafer off the bench and a threat in the playoffs. I think the sky is the limit for James White, even on defense, it'll be interesting to see where Adelman goes from here.
I think we would be lucky to see White more than one or two more times before the end of the regular season. And it's a toss up between White and Cook for the last spot of the 13-man playoff roster. (12 active, 1 inactive) It's an obvious point but White has to remain patient and make the most out of the opportunity when it comes, just like Wafer was able to. That chance won't come this season, however.
not saying that he should play or anything, but is he eligible for the playoff roster? when did we re-sign his 10 day contract?
If the team signs him for the rest of the season, in a couple of days, Monday I think...then it will be a sign as to whether they think he has a future here. DD
Just based on how far Wafer has come with a similar background, I am open to being on the positive side with White. By background I mean, they did not deliver initially in the NBA and had to return after working on their game. Those two jump shots did not touch rim. If that is an indication of what his outside shot is, then we have to think Morey may be on to something. An athletic freak who now has a jump shot. He may be a prolific dunker who may now be a prolific scorer. The next thing I would want to know about is his FT shooting because he is going to get fouled. There was elevation on his jump and he has long hands, so I do not expect many to block his shot. The rockets are running more now than they did this time last year and if Yao can lead the break like he did once last night, it is not White that would not and finish too. Both Brooks and Lowry need running mates.
he can probably be a very good shooter off a screen or pick, but I don't think he is much of a 1 on 1 player (got stripped), this can still be a very good thing, we already have a few 1 on 1 players anyway.
I think the most important skill he can give us is his shooting, especially if he can stroke it from 3. Right now, the only perimeter scorer we have off the bench is Wafer, and when he isn't on (having 0-fer nights), then we're in trouble because Artest plays extended minutes and bogs the game down with his insane one foot fadeways. If Battier could return to the ultra efficient long range bomber he was before he had surgery then we wouldn't need another scorer, but with him devolving into CHuck Hayes sf version though we need another wing player who can take ball into the bucket in a variety of ways.
I think the Rox would sign him until the summer so he can really show what he can do. There's no point in getting White now when he's not gonna get any PT due to RA's stubborness. We might as well have gotten another big like Pops Mensh Bonsu instead.
Stubbornness? We don't have the luxury of taking d-league players for a test drive when we're racing 100 mph for playoff position. Garbage time is the only time he should see the court. But I would like to see him signed just for emergency purposes in case someone else gets injured. The injury bug seems to follow us year round (ie Alston going down in the playoffs).
PLAY JAMES WHITE ??? calm down man For who would james play for? wafer>? wafer--->james white barry? barry is loved by coaches. Everyone were saying that there r reason why nobody picked wafer up. Well there r also very good reasons why nobody picked james up. Guy can jump yea but so what >? He had a lil nice game last night yea he made 2 shots so what? wafer made 7 3rs in his debute and proven himself that he deserves to play in the NBA. white havent proven anything yet. All of you keep on saying play WHITE but for WHO?
Even if White's signed for the season, I'm now doubting he'd make the playoff roster. Right now, he's basically taking Head's place on the bench as insurance for the guards. However, the playoffs are no place for a player with no NBA experience to speak of. So Adelman will probably prefer Cook for the 13th spot. Not that it really matters, because if we're playing either Cook or White meaningful minutes in the playoffs, we're screwed.
Yeah, you could see that he had a big case of nerves. I think if he calms down, he could contribute some off the bench. White has some talent.
Worrell mentioned in the Twolves game that the reason Morey signed him is that we don't have a 1st or second round pick this year and White may be as good as a 1st round pick this year. Good move by Morey, best thing about him is his shot, he looks like he can flat out shoot.
who saw that quick move to the basket at the end! if he had played this would definitely be a W. /sarcasm
