Just curious, Manny, but what exactly makes you so fearful of Ms. Clinton? Her record as senator from New York is nothing that should frighten anyone. She was reelected handily, so New Yorkers must not have been frightened out of their wits by her. Before that, she was First Lady. What evil thing did she do with that? Put up horrific drapes in the Lincoln bedroom? She had a foray early in the Clinton Presidency with attempting to come up with a form of national healthcare, of which nothing worth mentioning resulted, and any unbiased person paying any attention to the awesome media campaign waged by the medical and pharmaceutical industries, and their attendant lobbyists, would have to admit an incredible hatchet job was done on both her and the ideas being floated around by the Administration.

Really... what is so god-awful about Hillary Clinton, except the fact that she doesn't seem to have an easy to like personality? Do we elect people purely based on their likeability? Isn't that what got us the current idiot in office? I don't want her to get the nomination more for the fact that she produces reactions from voters similar to yours, Manny, than anything particular she's done that would not make her a good President, certainly good compared to Goofus in the Oval Office.

    Deckard,

I am not against a woman being President of this country but I would not want Hillary to be the first. There is just something about her that makes me feel and think that everything she has done has been premeditated. Her staying with Bill after the Lewinsky thing then running for senator in NY (despite never having lived there) - it is like she is trying so hard to ride his coattails to get what she wants - to be President. I just find her to be an incredibly coarse, rude, and vulgar individual. I shudder to think what 4 years or even worse 8 years of her being in power is going to be like. I don't mind a Democratic candidate like Edwards or Wesley Clark or even bumbling Al Gore but Hillary?? Seriously - let's stop this BS political dynasty of Clinton/Bush. Our country deserves better than these people whether it is Dubya, Slick Willie, Hillary, or Dubya's daddy. What a dark period of politics our country has gone through when people 50 years will look back at the Bush/Clinton dynasty.

To be honest, I'd vote for anyone running as a D, yes anyone! Most people start out as Ds then become Rs over time. I started out as a R (first voted in 2000) till I discovered the extremes of both parties...I'm not on the same team as the Christian Right.

If you can't please your man, you can't please a nation. Simple as that.

She's a fat, disgusting pig of a human who is totally manufactured and poll-driven. She's the devil in sheep's clothing -- willing to do or say anything to get elected. She is a feminist and communist at heart. She won't be able to conceal her real self for the entire campaign, you just watch.

Well Manny, you certainly are shy about giving your opinions! ;) My wife would say that it boils down to a non-terminal case of sexism, if she read your post (which she won't... she's in Boston at the National Conference of State Legislatures), and she's not a Hillary Clinton fan, either, although we both were when Bill was running in '92. They had a big rally in Austin at the LBJ Library, and she was like a breath of fresh air. Compared to what we were used to seeing as potentially a First Lady, at any rate.

Look, I've already said she wouldn't be my choice for the nomination, but I don't see anything in your objections to her that doesn't come down to a personal dislike of the woman. That's cool. I could never fathom the fascination with Ronald Reagan, but compared to the Bush Years, I view him now as through a rosy glow... almost an Eisenhower aura, produced more by how bad George W. Bush is, than how good a President I think Reagan was. I voted against him twice, but I never hated the man. He was a halfway decent actor. And Ronnie looks positively moderate compared to George W. Bush. I think Reagan would be truly shocked by Bush's actions as President. Hopefully, if Clinton does get the nomination and runs in 2008, and is elected, you'll come to see her as not half as bad as you think she is now.

A Democrat is going to win in 2008. Whoever it is, I hope they bring a large broom and sweep out the accumulated years of filth produced by this Administration. And think about this... who usually ends up cleaning the house? Yes, it's usually the woman stuck with the job. Yet another case of sexism at work. Maybe we need a cure. Maybe it's time.

D&D. Impeach George and His Buddy.
