Wow. Dulles High alumni too. Why am I not surprised that those snotty rich suburban kids have nothing better to do?

Its like having metal detectors to go into the mall. Can't shield the internet from everyone. Working backward in time, if its not Facebook, its Myspace. If its not Myspace, its Friendster or a chatroom. If its not a chatroom, its AOL messenger. If its not AOL, its someone's guestbook on their homepage. Before that it was those "slambooks" and passing notes. Now those are just digitized on Facebook. Crappy people are everywhere and ruin everything.

Not all groups of friends have a 'who cares' attitude about rumors. Especially female friends where "BFF" can be the fakest thing ever. Guys either go ahead and beat each other's ass to clear things up, or they stay loyal.

I agree that it should be like that. But for the most part a teenager's world IS their school district and town. Letter jackets and class rings mean ZERO after high school. Yet people buy them anyway cuz they mean something while they're still in school.

STILL (on the blue part), some of these people pushing the issue are trying to show the "face" of the distraught and are taking a "stand." Though really they're just trying to get some TV face time to be popular. Which beats the bullying and makes them cool. The shallow people are the ones talking it the most. But at least their heart's in the right place
    :p

I don't understand how making it to a "slut" list on the interweb would ruin someone's life. There are 2 possibilities here:
    1. The girl is indeed a slut, which is something that everyone would know without the need of a freaking internet group, so the little page doesn't change anything because everybody already knows whether the girl in question is indeed a slut or not
    2. The girl isn't a slut. In this case, the facebook page would be defaming her, but this girl's good character and high moral standards are well known by her friends and acquaintances, and thus making it to the "list" doesn't really change anything, except maybe boost the girl's self esteem because somebody is obviously jealous of her and wants to get at her by calling her a slut online.

This is why I think the media is hyping this. Not that it's not WRONG, it definitely is, but I think there are more important things we should worry about, such as REAL bullying in schools, and I'm not talking about the "you're a w****!" type of bullying. I'm talking about the verbal abuse and torment about one's looks, appearance, intelligence level, etc.. There are individuals in that age group that are absolutely EVIL. It's the group of people who don't have a future, so they want to get their opportunity to be the focal point in their community by acting "hard" in high school and bullying vulnerable kids. Our school system does absolutely NOTHING to them. HISD had that joke of a policy that suspends both parties involved in a fight. REALLY? you're gonna suspend the all A's honor roll student who goes to class and cares about school because the ****** bully made fun of him, he responded with an insult, so the bully attacked him and kicked his ass?

On a side note, you guys seem to be really supportive of people who make bad decisions. I have absolutely no sympathy for a girl that shoots a sex tape and then her life is ruined because it got "leaked". Here's a hint: DON'T HAVE SEX ON VIDEO! DON'T TAKE TOPLESS PICTURES FOR YOUR BOYFRIEND! What's so hard about that? I know people are supposed to be stupid at that age, but if you really believe that explicit pictures/videos of yourself will be private for ever, then you have a dangerous mental condition you need to attend to: delusion.

I'm glad I didn't grow up with Facebook! I'm still far more sensitive about insults than JV is. On that note, if you disagree with something I say, that's fine. I try to be civil and I am happy to read civil arguments against my position. But name calling and other snide remarks tend to ruin my day. Seriously. This was much worse for me in middle school than it is now. As an adult I rarely come in contact with people who are even rude. When I do I add them to my ignore list.

I'm not sure what happened with the leaked sex tape that was mentioned but there was a similar case in which a naked phot was sent via cell phone. It resulted in the sender and receivers being charged with child p*rnography even though they were minors themselves. The trouble is that it really doesn't matter who is doing the publishing, even self-publishing. We are fairly intollerant of child p*rnography.
