Dont be too hard on the Aggies next season outlook. Sloan has twice the tools and potential that Law showed his freshman year. Jordan is a lotto caliber post. We all saw what Kirk can do when he is needed. And Carter and Jones should be aiming for Big 12 second team spots.

The Arkansas vs TAMU argument is getting old. Both schools and conferences have their pros and cons, in this case its too close to tell. Which makes it moot in my eyes. Its all just posturing for a bigger better job or he is staying at TAMU. Unless of course Arkansas ponies up a stupid amount of cash which still has nothing to do with its facilities, state, history, or whatever...

You;re right about that. I know A&M's top recruit next year, and he said if Gillispie leaves, he's goin to UT instead

how awesome would that be if deandre jordan backed out of his committment to atm if gillespie left and went to texas and pretty much pull a damion james.........i am friends with him and have played against him many times he told me that ut was his 2nd choice.......also if texas bound the horns would literally be unbeatable

If Billy leaves, the program will fold?

Yeah...I am sure that if the coach leaves, A&M will simply stop playing basketball.

One factor I heard is that Fran has a clause stating he has to be the highest paid coach on staff. So they will need to factor that in when they are dumping cash in front of Billy.

Actually we had a mcdonalds all american when I went to school there. Jerald Brown. I am guessing he regrets going to A&M now.

They would play, but I would expect a return to the old "who cares about the program" ball instead of the "we are advancing in the tourney" ball. If he leaves I fully expect the new top recruits to go somewhere else.

Coaches have to strike while the Iron is hot.

Gillespie had a good team at A&M last year, but he knows next year will be a struggle and he sees more prominant jobs opening up worth way more money.

He should take it......you only get so many opportunities....coaches should take whatever is best for their family and their careers.

assuming he defines "whatever is best" for HIS family and HIS career as leaving A&M. more money in a place where the grass is seemingly greener doesn't always translate as well in people's lives as we think it will. there are countless examples of that.

it is entirely possible that he is content right where he is.

you guys know i'm a longhorn fan. i'm rooting for Gillespie to stay. i think it would be great for the Big XII...and I LOVED watching the Aggies and Horns mix it up at a high level of play.

Billy Gillispie is single and has no children. The guy is a basketball maniac, with a love of horse racing on the side.

And Gillispie stays at A&M ...

Hey Arkansas, you can go after your second choice of Bill Self

What he doesn't want it? Shocker. Maybe Nolan Richardson will take you back? ... when was the last time Arkansas was in the top 25 anyway?
