I have the vibrating Mach 3 and it's a great razor. I don't think the vibration actually improves the shave whatsoever, but it does FEEL good. I dunno, 5 blades seems a little silly, but hey, maybe I'll give it a shot. I'm kind of surprised that some people don't use the Mach 3, though... I thought it was pretty much the standard razor. People actually use electrics?
I'm in the same exact boat. I use the vibrating Mach 3 also, and it's the best razor in this class I've tried. I love it. This razor, though, is cheap, and I like the trimmer for my sideburns. I might give it a try.
Good call -- I had completely forgotten to write about that. That is the one part of the razor that really stood out as cool. I tried it on my sideburns, and it worked GREAT. If I were growing a beard, I'd really dig that part of the razor, because it really does allow you to get a good, precision shave at the edges of your hair (facial or sideburns). That is the best part of the razor, IMO.
Yep, I just got into electrics.. I got one of the cheap $3.00 (yeah 3 dollars) electric shavers from Wal-Mart.. I just ordered a new Braun from Amazon a few days ago because I liked the cheap electric so much.. I can actually shave everyday now without having razor burn or removing chunks of my face every other day like I used to with the Mach 3.. The cheap electric obviously doesn’t get as close like the Mach 3 can, but it's a even trade off for me being able to shave everyday now..
What is the exact name of that razor and how much did it cost you? I have the Norelco Advantage and I love it but I hate the cleanup and judging by the pic that is one of those self-cleaning types, no?
I love the close shave I get with the Mach 3, but I can only shave once every 3 or 4 days without making my entire face bleed. Is there any electric that I could get between $50-75 that I could use more often and still get a pretty close shave?
More like $2 per. I've considered going to electric just because of this but I also worry about the closeness of the shave that I would get.
The answer is not what blade you use but what lubricant you use. The answer is the Total Shaving Solution. I know some other BBS's have used it. Gets you the closest shave ever without cutting up your face.
people get cut using a mach 3? i have the mach 3 nitro vibrating thing and it's the greatest razor ever. i also doubt the vibration does anything but the actual nitro cartridges are great because each one lasts forever. i shave everyday, sometimes every other day and i'll use it till the indicator strip is basically completely dissolved, and still get a close shave. that's why it surprises me that people here get cut with mach 3's, they;re a smooth shave till the end. i don't even want to bother with their new crap, hopefully they'll just lower mach 3 prices.
i concur. i mean either your a giant p***y or something else is up if you get cut with a razor. i haven't cut myself with a razor since i started shaving at 5.
No kidding, that's the strangest thing I've ever heard! I've never even nicked myself with the M3 Power, and I have a coarse beard that I shave every day. Heck, I've even gone a week without shaving and then used the M3, and it STILL made short work of my beard, no bleeding involved. What kind of technique are you guys using?
I use the Braun Syncro, and yes, it does clean itself in the base. Very handy, IMO. I get a damn good shave with the electric. (I used normal razors a long time ago.) The only drawback with my particular razor is price. The razor/base is rather expensive (or at least it was years ago), and the cleaning cartridges set you back more money. (I average like a cleaning cartridge every month and a half.) Still, it was worth it to me, as I hate buying razors and/or blades over and over again. Plus, the nifty LCD screen on the razor shows a smiley face when it's done charging! I mean, c'mon, that's revolutionary technology right there.
Am I crazy for still using my old 2-blade Gilette Sensor Excel? I'll admit, I do like the three blade refills they have for the Excel, but I'm not particulary fond of the Mach3...had a bad experience with it once.
I'm an Excel 3 guy myself as well. It has a much more solid feel than the Mach 3. The spring loaded head of the Mach 3 is annoying.
