One thing I should make clear is that I think A&M should release him from his LOI (should he request) mainly for the fact that not doing it would hurt A&M recruiting.

These kids that sign LOIs don't deserve anything. They all knew the rules governing LOIs when they signed them. If they didn't like them, they should have waited to sign a LOI. Jai Lucas doesn't have to worry about coaching changes because he has not signed a LOI.

I didn't realize how common schools not letting players out of LOIs was and I see it really is a possibility here.

That said, I would hope A&M would release him because not doing so would really hurt A&M's rep with AAU coaches I believe.

He is in Louisville playing in an AAU tournament. Was interviewed on the radio there and asked about his future. DeAndre said he is staying at A&M and can't wait to show up on June 1st

    Straight from your own website...

“I am thankful for the commitment Texas A&M continues to make to allow us to do the things we need to do, to achieve our ultimate goal—winning a national championship,” Gillispie said. “The commitment has been there since day one and continues to grow stronger still. While it’s embarrassing to me to be compensated so well to perform my passion for a school I love, I am sincerely appreciative of the efforts of Bill Byrne, our university administration, the board of regents and everyone associated with Texas A&M for their personal support they continue to show. We will continue to do our best to try and make the Texas A&M family proud.”

Well According to DeAndre's AAU coach, he is staying at Texas A&M. I won't be 100% convinced until I hear it from his mouth, but this is pretty close. Says that Coach Turge spoke to him and they hit it off. The Aggies are returning a decent team next year and have some real talent coming in as well (including 3 and 4 star prospects that sat on the bench last year). Adding DJ to the mix, A&M should have a young and dynamic team next year with a mix of youth and experience with JJ, Carter, and Kirk.

Come on IC...you know darn well that you thought Gillespie was staying, especially after they were able to work out a brand new contract. All gr8-1 posted was that he heard a rumor that DeAndre would follow Gillespie, you decided to post a smart ass comment saying he was wrong but who knows?

As RocketManJosh posted, he won't be convinced until he hears it from his mouth, I would go further and say I won't be convinced until he officially enrolls. Things can change in a split second, Gillespie went through contract negotiations and everything seemed to be okay in Aggieland but EVERYTHING changed not even a week after agreeing to a new contract.

    My prediction...

Jordan stays. Aggies do well next year. Elite 8 or Final Four 2 years from now lead by Carter, Sloan, and Jordan. I expect Sloan to be a top 5 PG.

After that Turgeon goes to Kansas where Bill Self continues to disappoint.

Turgeon does only a decent job of recruiting and The Aggie bball era fades into obscurity despite improved facilities and growing fan base.

I dont like T. He has a wife and kids. A real family man. BCG had to get divorced because he was so dedicated to basketball. He has no food in his fridge. He used to have to drink the stress away. Not good traits in a human. But awesome traits in a coach. The way Gillespie prepares will probably leave his health in shambles ala Rudy.

Man look at me slurp BCG for no reason. I love em. Hell I am gonna transfer to Kentucky. Man crush alert

Opinion noted, though I'm not sure I am going to go with your opinion over virtually every recruiting service out there. The guy was wanted by all the top programs so that tells me all I need to know. There are no guarantees in recruiting. 5 Star players have flopped, and if DJ does, I'll be happy to let you know that you were correct.

Is he going to be Kevin Durant? No

Is he going to be a very good player? Probably

At worst, he is going to be a good college player. There is no reason for Aggies not to be excited about him coming.

Also, according to Terrence Harris at the Chronicle, DJ told the chronicle he was going to A&M. That's the first I've heard of anything from his mouth saying he is staying so I feel a lot more comfortable with him staying.

    My prediction:

By February, some blog or tabloid somewhere will have linked Gillespie and Ashley Judd romantically.

Did DeAndre's coach ever get the job from ATM?

Maybe he can buy a car from the car lot that Bryan Davis's dad manages. He went from unemployed to managing a car lot. Gotta love the Aggie connections.

Haha ... yeah Texas and other schools have never done anything like this

And Bryan Davis's dad works for the university fyi.

You've posted an awful lot in a thread regarding A&M and you try to act like you could care less about A&M. Just like people on hornfans who have had 6-10 A&M threads on the front page for over a month despite not caring about A&M at all. Obsession noted.

How would you know what hornfans looks like?
