Congressmen are easily the most lucrative and cost efficient business investment anyone can make. If the poor could just crowdsource and buy 290 of them, we could get this done!

Why can't we just spend less?

Because that would jeopardize the entitlement spending that Obama's votes depend upon.

Gladiator I am surprised you have fallen for the whole conservative austerity agenda. The deficit is not that important. I think you need to research the issue more.

What are the % of liberals who use handouts and govt funds as opposed to conservatives?

What about blacks and Hispanics as opposed to Whites and Asians?

Of course deficits are important. Short-term deficits aren't a big deal, but long-term deficits certainly are. The flaw in the conservative austerity agenda is that it entirely focuses on spending and does not address the tax side as well.

there will always be people willing to rob Peter to pay Paul

and if Peter is a minority, there's nothing stopping the Pauls from looting him

Why isn't it ever considered class warfare when we enact legislation that largely benefits the wealthy? Why is it only class warfare when things negatively affect the rich?

Except Peter himself, who finances campaigns to get influence to get all sorts of government contracts, tax exemptions, and other benefits for himself.

The idea that the rich have it bad in this country with people always stealing their wealth is laughable.

What a joke. It wouldn't matter who was in congress, they are all rich and this will not pass.

They should make long term capital gains the same as regular income tax rate. The same goes for the dividend tax rate too.

Since I make my money off trading I already pay the regular income tax rate on my short term capital gains. I'm not encouraged to hold trades/investments longer because I might get a discount in taxes.

I doubt there is any real proof that shows a discounted long term capital gains rate improves investment. If there is show it to me.

Well I probably get more value out of Airports, passport control, tax discounts for 401k investments, use of Federal Highway system, and much more than th average poor person gets in food stamps and welfare.

My taxes last year for federal tax for the prior year was about 9% of my income due to being a small business owner and all the deductions I get.

    Oh, I am a liberal.

Which term would you associate with warfare more readily?

Fair because of the way it was stated. Another way:

"Why isn't it considered class warfare when we enact legislation that negatively impacts (or disproportionately harms) the poor/middle class?"

I actually agree with you. When we talk about illegal
Immigrants and poor people paying no taxes it's a class
    Dividing, under informed statement.

But Obama doesn't think this can pass, he's just creating class
    Warfare to energize his support.

All politics.. Which is in poor taste.

Lots of low IQ idiots in this thread. So much misinformation. Almost like the Lin fans.
