Exactly, he is living paycheck to paycheck. As soon as his contract ends, it's all over. While other guys are making their money work for them, and they make millions of dollars even after their career is over.

He wouldn't last in a NBA lockout, because he spent all his income the previous month, like Latrell Sprewell.

Unlike the thousands of families who spend lavishly like this, Gilbert Arenas derives 100% of his wealth from his basketball career. Once his current contract expires, I highly doubt Arenas will be getting a max contract again. He's got to start saving up now, I'm pretty sure Arenas also gambles a ton.

And Kelly "Sandy Vagina" Dwyer likely derives 100% of his 'wealth' from putting out tabloid type write-ups on the internet. What happens when he is unable to hold a pen or operate a keyboard as a result of having had to finger himself too much trying to flick the sand out? I mean at least Arenas is somewhat ambidextrous on the basketball court so he'll still have a chance to make bucks in some field. But poor Kelly will just be stuck with that crab claw and an orifice full of silica :(

And people are complaining about this because? Gilbert is like a walking stimulus plan. Give him another max contract.

No, it doesn't say 'per month' in that clause. I think the article is listing things without regard to whether they are monthly or one-time expenses. I think he did the landscape once for $100k, and probably now pays a more modest maintenance cost.

Really, you add all this stuff up and it isn't much compared to what he makes in one year. And, it's coming from divorce court documents where the wife is trying to make Arenas look as bad as possible. If that's the worst of it, it's not too bad. Dumb expenses, perhaps, but most of them are one-time, and the recurring ones are small extravagances.
