I remember a couple weeks ago a blurb came out about the Lakers being interested in Gibson, I don't think it was in the first round though.

I just think with Armstrong and Augustine, Gibson was not going to get the PG minutes he needed to improve his draft standing for 07. I think by coming out now, he can go in the second round where can make a team, get a PG spot in the NBDL or get paid some serious money (not NBA first round serious, but better than you and I wll ever make in our lives) to play PG in Europe where he can work himself back into the NBA.

He just had no upside to go back to Texas and play SG.

And no I don't think anybody promised him anything. Way down in the draft there is too much uncertainty for anybody to be making 'promises'.

Well, it makes sense for the Cavs to pick him up, even if they didn't make a promise to him. The knock on him is that he doesn't have the PG mentality, but with Larry Hughes and LeBron James handling the ball most of the time, he won't need to...

If no one drafts him and he doesn't have an agent, can he go back to college ball?

Is that you, Rick Adelman? How's your summer? Heck, what are you doing in the Fall?

Maybe you were busy brushing your 'stache or practicing your frown to note that Williams' timely 3s, ball control, and judicious distribution of the ball to the Heat's former superstars contributed to Miami's comeback from 0-2.

As of right now, Jason Williams is better than ALL of the Houston PGs put together...........times cinco.

If you tell a kid that you will take him if he is available, and he is available but you take someone else you're an ass. I've never seen a draftee streaming down tears of sadness on TV before. Karma is a beeotch. Nice flame out on a great career Rudy! BWHAHAHA. Thank you Les and Dr. Buss!!!

Dr. Buss? Is he Lewis' therapist?

For current and future Longhorns: If I remember correctly, Dr. Buss' PSYCH class is an easy A...................if you have class notes from previous years.

    Thank you, Dr. Buss.

Is he a better choice than say Mardy Collins?

Mardy is bigger, with better handles than Gibson - from the few games I have seen of both players. If we have to go PG with the 32nd pick, I'd rather it not be Gibson.

I think the deadline to "undeclare" was last week, so the answer is no.

So what does Jason Williams have to do w/ our #32 pick? Nothing. Jason Williams is a decent PG but he wasn't a big part of why Miami won the championship like you're implying.

I'm under the impression that Collins will be gone by #32, some mocks have him going anywhere from #20 to #32 so anything can happen I guess.

I haven't seen much of Collins so I definitely don't to dismiss him. But I do like Gibson's shooting ability and his potential. I though he should have came back for another season but oh well.

[not advocating drafting him] Gibson's not a bad ball handler, he's a bad decision maker, especially shot selection.

I think that is the way it used to be, but now I believe there is a cutoff date by which the candidate needs to inform the NBA of their intentions. Here is a link that broadly discusses it and indicates circuitously what I am saying:

Gibson is a above-average athlete at the point, all that really matters now is if coaches precieve him as coachable. To say he "doesn't make good decisions" is premature at best, he's a college soph who didn't really play the point fulltime mostly because of he was the team's best SG.

All that being said he looks kindof like a Luther Head clone, and if we're going to spend the time developing a player to give it a go at point I'd rather see Luther in there and try and get something different with the pick.

he didn't play point full time because there was a freshman younger than him and another guy better than him running the team, both who are neither pro prospects at this point.

pg- If you watched Longhorn ball you would know that Gibson was our best SG on the team. Winder and Lewis never played, I think that just shows how thin we were at SG last season.

Paulino was a good, smart PG and you're not gonna make Gibson come off the bench. Abrams was a great addition to the team last season.

I watch longhorn basketball, I know gibson wasn't the best pg on the team, regardless of where he was best utilized.

I never said he was the best PG on the team. Both Paulino and Abrams were better ball handlers, while Paulino was probably the smartest player on the team.

I could tell you this much, IF the Horns had a good SG, Barnes probably would have started Gibson over Paulino at PG. It's just that Gibson was by far our best perimeter scorer.
