It seems to me that some Jews are using Anti-Semitism to try and rewrite history. If I remember correctly the bible does put alot of the burden for Jesus' death onto them and while I do feel for them for the horrors they as a race have endured but that doesn't change what their role in his death was. Anytime a Jewish person is portrayed in a bad light it is not antisemitism.
Should we blame all white people in America for slavery in America's history? I'm not sure how the blaming Jews for Jesus death is much different.
That's cool, but if your statement about Gibson's father matches the way you feel on say Natalie Maines saying she's ashamed of Bush or Incubus's new video, then I'd have nothing further to discuss...
Did you guys know that the woman who plays Jesus' mother in the film is Jewish and Mel Gibson specifically asked her many times for her input on what was OK to portray in the film? Of course you didn't... you have already made up your hate-filled minds about the film and have judged it guilty Damn that sounds familiar.
Hmm... I would have to say... PWN3D. But seriously, he is right. The whole outrage about this movie is stupid because IT HASN'T COME OUT YET.
would love proof of that....would make me feel better, everything ive read has been negative so feel free to post ur source
how are we trying to rewrite history? edit: in the bible the only link jews have to jesus' death is through the romans...
Something that has bothered me about this is the filmakers claiming that the Pope said "It is as it was" after seeing it. Don't know if anybody here noticed that the Vatican completely denies the Pope said anything like that.
No, Austraila is not a very religious place, in comparison to America. And we're not all related to criminals.
Why would you guys (the one's who plan to boycott Mel Gibson films) boycott someone's work because of a statement that someone related to them made? Is Mel Gibson responsible for the words of his father?
I wouldn't boycott Mel's movie because his father has some bizarre beliefs. I have some wacked out relatives... mostly inlaws, that I avoid if I can. Some things you have no control over. I haven't had a burning desire to make the effort to see the flick. I'm not always in the mood to see something depressing, either. I've also stayed out of the movie discussion, since I don't see the point if I haven't gone to a showing. Gibson is very talented. He may have over-reached here, but I'll have to wait to pass judgement.
I think it's the fact that Mel refuses to repudiate his father's beliefs. Since his father raised him, it is likely that he taught Mel those same beliefs. So I think people want to know if Mel has ever agreed with his father regarding the holocaust and if so, does he still? I think it is a valid question that he really hasn't answered.
all he has to say is his father is wrong on this issue. i don't see how that is going against him or calling him a lunatic. Fathers and sons disagree all the time. If your father was a racist (like the Utah Jazz in your opinion) and someone asked you if you were one too? what would you say?
