Ha ha! You're not going to go third person on us here are you? :D

"And only Kenny Phillips can make Kenny Phillip plays so if you're not Kenny Phillips, you can't make Kenny Phillips type plays because only Kenny Phillips can make them! Because Kenny Phillips is a great football player and if you're only an average football player you cannot be Kenny Phillips or make Kenny Phillip type plays like this one. See take look here ... boom! That's what I'm talkin about!"
LOL! I kill myself with humor sometimes. :D

Future quote by the great master of redundancy, John Madden! :D

    Stats from the game ...

    Osi 3 tackles, 1 assist
    Strahan 2 tackles, 1 assist, 1 sack
    Tuck 5 tackles, 1 assist, 2 sacks

Uh .. they were getting pressure basically ALL game long! Every time Brady even completed a pass the Giants were hitting him and knocking him down.

That is very effective! If you get a QB thinking more about how he's going to get pounded rather than making plays, that's a big time assist toward gaining victory.

Plays that were not in the stat sheet but vital to the Giants getting a W!

Furthermore, you NEVER go vanilla defense in a playoff game let alone the Super Bowl! If any QB has time to complete his progression and execute his game plan with flawless passing, your defense is in for a LONG game!

The blitzing did not hurt the Giants, if anything it kept the Patriots off stride for most of the game. Save for the Pats last drive in the 4th.

The battle is won and lost in the trenches, the Giants did their job and the Pats never got in any kind of rhythm offensively or defensively.

They were sending blitzes, a lot. You might can argue that they didn't need to with the pressure that their line was getting, but they still blitzed a lot.

My fancy will not likely be tickled (to that extent) this year, unfortunately. :(

I am hoping they trade back and get the best players available in the offensive line, or secondary. Two second round picks would be great.

The Giants DL has been great this season, but it wasn't all about them. Eli matured greatly and their OLine did a good job of protecting him for the most part.

If the 2nd half of last season was any indicator of what type of player Mario will be, plus a 2nd year Okoye, I think we have bigger needs. Us Texan fans know how important a O-Line is, we made a HUGE investment in Schaub and I hope the Texans do something to ensure that investment holds up.

    1. LT- Salaam was okay, but we need a franchise LT IMO.

    2. DB- With D-Rob's injury and a mediocre at best secondary, our pass defense will only get worse if we don't improve.

    3. RB- Green and Dayne is no guarantee but Walker showed some promise. I would normally have this at the top of my list, but Kubiak doesn't pick RBs high and with ZB scheme godfather now on board, I don't think that will change.

Mario was a beast last season, but teams are going to start keying in on him and adjusting. We are going to need a pass rusher opposite Mario (Weaver isn't cutting it) to keep teams honest. Whether they sign or draft a pass rusher is of no consequence to me, but IMO I'd rather draft a pass rusher (DE or LB) and sign a veteran DB to come in opposite Bennett until Robinson comes back.

A good pass rush helps out the secondary and a good secondary helps the pass rush with coverage sacks, as far as I'm concerned we need both so why not try to address both needs? If the BPA at pick 18 is a DE then we should draft him. IMO the Texans are not at the point where they should draft for need, but continue to draft the most talented players.

There will be some real nice free agent cornerbacks, but they will be pricey.
We have to sign at least one free agent tackle.

I prefer a rookie for running back- the big name free agent running backs rarely do well for the money you spend- Green last season for example. duh!

In the draft I think the first round pick must be an impact player, so at 18th pick they should consider who will become a pro bowl player- probably look at OL, safety, Running Back, DE, LB, CB

It will depend upon free agency and who they think will be there in rounds 3 and 4.

I doubt they will go RB, but I would love another really good edge rusher.
I think Jonathon Stewart will be big time as a pro.

Hope they can pluck a jewel in the third round like Charles Spencer was before he was hurt.

This will be a critical offseason for the team.

Will it ever! Remember the offseason after the previous high-water mark for this franchise? I think about that and shudder.

Oh, I wasn't predicting doom and gloom. However, there were plenty of reasons to believe the Texans were up-and-coming after that 7-9 season. Plenty of reasons, that is, until Casserly got to work. What a sham that offseason was.

If Smith doesn't spend the offseason dismantling his defense and ignoring the O-Line, I'll feel pretty good! :D

How about a free agent DE...

As much as I would love Jared Allen, he will be getting mega dollars...had we never invested in Weaver, we'd be in a great position to get Allen.

Justin Smith is available and would cost less. He had a pretty bad year with a horrible Cincy defense, but the guy was getting about 8 sacks per season overa handful of seasons...not bad considering the fact that Cincy has never really had too many threats on defense. I think if you put him opposite Mario, that could be a pretty nice combo.

There are also some decent DTs which I wouldnt mind replacing TJ with. Im tired of that guy and would like to find a replacement.

They should go with RB, OT or CB. Those are more pressing areas. The Giants have a talented front 4 but most of what they do is by design. Their secondary is much better than the Texans. I wouldn't draft a DE this year because one can be had in FA...say Justin Smith or Jared Allen (Longshot). Go with CB because we don't know Dunta Robinson status for next year. Marcus Trufant is available for CB if they go with a FA.

The Texans went 8-8 and I think we maybe at the point where we can start looking to draft for need (contrary to past years). The reason why I don't say it this year is that, for example, we have a good core of WRs with the emergence of Davis/Walters, along with AJ, so drafting a WR at #18 (if a WR is the most talented player at that point) wouldn't make too much sense. The past years, we could have just drafted the bpa because we needed so much help (OL, DL, DB, WR, RB, etc...).

The Texans made a big investment when we drafted Carr, we never did anything to ensure that investment and ended up losing it completely (literally). We made another big investment in Schaub and I think it would be completely foolish if we did the same thing, Schaub already missed 5-6 full games this season because in the ineptitude of the OL.

But I agree that is of no consquence whether they draft or sign the player. But after doing some draft analysis, it's looking like there could be some pretty good OTs available at #18.
