YACK. I just had a flashback of when Chipper Jones put one in the Crawford boxes off of Wags in the divisional series a couple of years ago. Wags is NOT CLUTCH AT ALL.

edit: WAGS FLAT OUT IS NOT CLUTCH!!! 2 back to back?!?!? I just remember that clown a couple of years ago proclaiming to the camera how he should be paid as the top closer in the league.

    **** WAGS.

    Jimy Sucks !!

This team is a bunch of chokers......they are pressing up and down the lineup.

Barry doesn't do squat, and the Stros can't capitalize.

The Cubs will probably win it....

    UGH !!!

Anyone want to revisit my Bullpen overated thread?

AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL!!!!!!!!! How could we blow this?!?!?!? AWFUL!

edit: Why am I ranting? We would have gotten swept even if we make the playoffs. Does anybody here really want to watch Bagwell and Biggio strike out every at bat in the playoffs, as usual?

I do.....heck, if I can watch the Oilers blow a 35-3 lead, I can stand to watch Bags and Biggio choke yet again.

    BLAH BLAH BLAH!!!

Our bullpen sucks b**** tonight!!! Man.....ugh!

Wags gave up 3 runs in the top of the 9th inning, which appears to be all they need now to beat the astros.

This was villone's game. He pitched a good one. But the bullpen gave this one away.

    YES!!!

Only 1.5 games out of the wild card!!!!

(Strangely enough, it would be the same outcome -- Atlanta).

    Uprising.

What I don't get is why Jimy goes to the bullpen so often, especially when the starter looks to be in control like tonight.

I love Wags in a save situation, but there is a reason his record is 1-4...he chokes in ties.

Did you have to add to our collective misery by bringing up THAT game?

I completely agree DD. Villone still looked damn good in the 7th,he was very emotional.

Villone got the first out in the 7th with only 2 pitches...then Jimmy walks his little self out there and says ok, you're done for tonight.

I dont get it. Villone was doing damn good.

    Bags strikes out.

Man, this ump really sucks!!! Talk about inconsistant. Early in the game he had a really low strike zone, and now it is really high!!!

2 outs... Kent up...1 man on. bottom of the 9th.

Game over. 6-3 final. Giants win.

    Rocked: Villone
    Got Rocked: Astro Bullpen

Astros losing streak now at 3 games.....This is not going to cut it. Post season for this team? Not at this rate!!

This is for the bullpen for tonight's perfomance.

These last 3 have been horrible. Hell, if we could have won one of these games we'd still have a leave. Jimy pulling Villone was the right move. Galaragga had been jacking him and the whole Lidge-Dotel-Wagner thing is supposed to be automatic. Let's be honest, the only reason we're in it now is because of that 3 man closing combo. They all flat out sucked tonight in a game we had to win. I guess it's just a playoff preview for if we do sneak in. By the way, since I bought playoff tickets today, I do get a refund when we don't make it right?

No kiddin'. I was screaming at all the crappy calls he was making. His strike zone was pretty much wherever the Giant pitchers were throwing. What, is he a Cubs fan or something?!?! He cost us at least 2 runs tonight.

But bottom line, you're not going anywhere if your closer gives up 3 in the 9th.

Wait wait wait, now. I'm going to join in with everyone and b**** about this choke job the Astros pulled tonight, but I can't let this crap slide. As I recall, one of your suggestions in that thread was that Dotel/Lidge should be starters. Starters. Then both of them contribute to this loss tonight and you are using that thread as evidence that you were right? Where is the logic in that? Tonight, the starter did well, the bullpen didn't. So how does that support your theory that bullpens aren't that important? Were our bullpen to have done well, this game is a win.

    Now, having said that.

Jimy pulling Villone was the wrong move. He was on a roll, and hadn't even thrown 90 pitches yet. You know the bullpen is tired, why take him out?

There are times when you should leave your pitchers in and times where you go to your pen. This was a time to leave him in.

Astros fans should be used to this by now.

In 2001, the Astros went on a major slide near the end of the year, and had to win at STL to win the division. It shouldn't have ever gotten to that point.

Well, this team has lost 3 in a row. Not a good time to lose three freaking games in a row. It's like whenever this team feels the heat, they can't handle it. They buckle. This is how the the Bags and Biggio era will be remembered (or how I will remember them anyway)

I don't blame Jimy for pulling Villone. The guy had a bloody arm. I doubt he expected Lidge and Dotel to buckle under the pressure.

Putting Wagner in was a mistake though. He blows too many important games. Amazing how the qulaity teams in baseball are able to hit homer after homer off him.
