yeah, there are all kinds of trenches and cracks where animals lurk. Just know the deeper you go the crazier the fish get. Anyone know what that fish is called with the light attached to the head? I think it's called the Angler fish

That's pretty cool, but does it have nostrils where its eyes should be, and eyes inside its transparent skull?

I just don't get it. Why were these mofos so big? Were they just the winners in the evolve-to-grow-larger arms race of prehistoric times?

Somewhat, but nearly all of the colossally sized animals have become extinct for a reason. Their size, while initially their advantage over other animals, is the reason they do not exist today. Of course, that is my opinion, heh.

Just looking at objectively, though, most of the humongous animals that would have been a huge problem for humans no longer exist. I don't think it's a coincidence.

Could you imagine megalodons and T-rexs existing in bunches in today's world?

Yeah, I have imagined that and that's why I have zero interest in any type of sailing or deep sea fishing.

I'll snorkel and what not as long as where I'll be doesn't have any sharks and it's not too deep.

I read about this fish the other day on mental floss. It really is amazing what lurks in the deep oceans. BTW, the common name of that fish is the barreleye fish.

I'm pretty sure that all the Predator Xes went extinct from vomiting every time they ran into this thing.
