I was speaking of primary defenders too. The situation you describe, the defender is square. Shuffling feet or not, as long as they don’t turn (too much — rule allows for them to protect but “not submarine” I assume that means undercut). Yes, you’re right, the primary defender can move — but he must beat the player to the spot and be square. And most the time defenders aren’t able to get square in front of Giannis in time. He’s just too agile and long. You give him space and he takes a giant step/slides past you euro style. You try to cut him off and his giant stride inevitably bumps you before you square up, resulting in a foul. nba fouls are whack in terms of star calls v the others. You could call a foul on every single play on ever single player. That’s almost not hyperbole! But I don’t think Giannis gets any kind of ridiculous treatment in terms of foul calls.
well it helps that the refs dont swallow their whistles for the bucks like they did for the rockets in the playoffs i still have harden ranked higher than giannis, lets see a few more years and see if he can remain healthy
I'm always curious about this one. Anybody has a wider angle on this play? Was he trying to pass to a teammate on the other side of the court?
Freak was coming from the FIBA game, he is a Euro, adapting back should be a no brainer. FIBA games average score is 80-90. Not about scoring or running into people, he actually did well playing the NBA game.
I have to give credit where credit is due. This is a bit of a flawed playoff run with all of the injuries but he has capitalized on the opportunity and has not shrunk under the pressure which I was expecting him to do.
Dont forget, he could very well be among that long list of injured stars, but his body is built way too robust. This is absolutely a credit to Giannis' conditioning / preparation and his parents' genes.
True. If anyone else had bent their knee like that, they wouldn't be playing in the finals, let alone dominating. Giannis lives up to his name of being a freak in more ways than one.
Not only is Giannis seemingly a good dude whose very humble...but Jrue is a helluva person by all accounts. I wouldn't be mad at all if he won...and Tucker too so yeah, I have no issue with the Bucks winning. Still though, all the Suns have to do is win 1 game and momentum changes...I wouldn't crown the Bucks just yet (although they play MUCH better at home so...)
Well said. Hes definitely a very likeable guy But deep down we all know theres nothing really worth appreciating about this playoff run. Its easy to play well and have big numbers against weak and injured teams
Middleton too. This team has no bad guys. The only thing ppl can hate on is Giannis' "beef" vs Harden, and the speculation about his involvement in the injury accidents. Though that's largely offset by the very good attitude he displays in every interview.
Talk for yourself. You can only play the teams that get in front of you, and every run has injuries. Granted that this year its been more than usual to starts, but he is playing like a true mvp. This is the first year where you can feel he has made a leap and contribute at the end of games, even if he cant shoot. Also that block on Ayton is just incredible, i dont even know how he could recover to get back and block that.
Reporter: Giannis, we've got confirmation from the Suns that Booker has torn his ACL, MCL and fractured his elbow trying to cushion the fall from your flagrant foul whilst he was midair. What are your thoughts? Giannis: Thank you for your question. How are you today by the way though? I hope you're doing good. Are you hydrated? If not would you like some of my own water from this bottle? Sorry what was your question again? Reporter: Oh never mind Giannis, no one even cares anymore because what a good attitude you just had. LUUUUULLLLLZZZZZZ
