The following statement was released by Hasbro's Public Relations Director Mark Morris:

"We at Hasbro, Inc. find this game highly offensive. We have issued the following statement to the media: We find this game to be reprehensible and a violation of our intellectual property rights. We have no record of ever being contacted by
Mr. Chang and never gave him any approval to produce this game. We have sent a cease and desist letter to Mr. Chang. We hope this makes our position clear. Thank you for the
    opportunity to state our position."

What is a cease and desist letter?

Cease and desist means stop selling and making the game.

    IceHouse,

The can sue the guy if they like, but the chances of them winning are very remote.

Just like there are several RPG games, or FPS games, you can't trademark a game type.

Cease and desist is a way that lawyers try to push around the little guys.

By the way, just because I may be wrong...I ordered my game today.

    :)

PS. You should see the game called Criminalypics we are working on...it makes fun of all races too....and I am sure that Icehouse would be offended....which means it will probably sell like crazy !!

These people need to unbunch their panties. How about going after the real culprits of the ghetto: drug dealers, gang bangers and prostitutes.

Try reeling in big fishes like 50 Cent, who is a former dealer who brags about drugs, getting shot, and HOs. The guy is a scourge but yet is adored by kids. He's got more influence over our young people than some silly game like Ghettopoly or even their parents.

At the end of the day, who do you think is making the most money off of 50 cent?

I think free speech and creativity is nice and all, but there are things to be said about stereoytypes in America. Why are stereotypes bad, even if they are good ones or ones that empower an ethnicity? read on if you want to learn some race and citizen theory.

First off, the common belief that "all stereotypes have some truth" is a fallacy. Rather it should be "all stereotypes are something that someone wants to be true"

what is it about stereotypes then that are so damaging in America? is there something about stereotypes that empower?

Well, first, we have to look at the basic fundamental American rights and beliefs: Individuality, freedom of speech, equality, liberty etc.
Stereotypes take these away from minority citizens, and in doing so empower the majority race. Lets look at some examples:

Stereotype: blacks are poor, mainly because they are lazy
What it takes away: This takes away the concept of the American dream, that any Joe American can succeed with effort. Unlike many other places in the world, the US believes in equal opportunity, but not equal results (in europe it is reversed). The stereotype takes away this equality from blacks, but in doing so, this empowers this right when given to the white majority.

well, obviously, bad stereotypes are bad, but what about good ones?

Stereotype: The model minority (Asians, Jews as good students, hard working etc.)
What it takes away: Individuality, one of Americas fundamental beliefs is that you can do whatever you want. By pigeon-holing an entire ethnicity, this takes away their ability to do whatever they want, or to even be normal. Now a normal, average Asian or Jew is below average? Althought the model minority may seem to do good, it only does so if one fits into the stereotype and if one does not care about their individuality. Equivically, this makes blacks the un-model minority.

This can continue with other stereotypes: The violent gun toting black male is a reason for america to keep its gun rights, the gangsta strengthens americas majority by saying bad business is black, good business is white. the coolie strengthens american labor rights. the miserly jew emphasizes the life loving american who must spend for his country. the terrorist muslim american strengthens the peacefulness of christianity and makes the majority race less dangerous.

This even runs off into sexes- black male-big strong and dumb, Asian male, Jewish male- effeminate, weak
This puts whites in the middle to do as the please, they are normal and average.
    Asian woman- submissive
    black female-aggressive
this again, puts the white female in the middle to be free to be whoever she wants.

In conclusion, this is not a rant against the white man, but it is a hypothesis that tries to discover what the stereotype does to disempower the fundamental american beliefs from minorities, and in doing so, empower the majority race. the problems with multicultural stereotypes are that they run counter to beliefs of equality and liberal democracy, they promote that some are not equal and some should not have a voice. Is there an end or answer to all this? no, this has been the historical result of the multiethnic state. what i simply intend to do is create a realization of why stereotypes are morally wrong, even if they are funny or seem to be true. Another question to explore is whether the stereotypes themselves act as a model for races. Are blacks really thugs because they are thugs or because that was the choice they were given since they were young? Are asian students really smarter and harder working or is it because they were expected to be that? The best course of action is to recognize what these stereotypes do, at best we can only make them taboo so that they are not spoken. In essence, to protest against this game, is not to simply take offense, but it is to protest threats against ones liberty and individuality.

anyone can have their own beliefs here, if you like the game and feel it does no harm, fine, freedom of belief is an american right. but with any race-touched topic in america there will be people who take offense for valid reasons that have been proven historically, my only hope is that there is an understanding that these stereotypes do a lot more harm than one thinks when it comes to being an American.

Really, even though the people who buy the most 50 cent albums are like my cousin, suburban kids? I never thought you'd be the type to blame crime on rappers, violent movies, video games etc.

So you support violent sexaholic rappers? You think thats good for youth, or for older people? I used to listen to rap. Then I woke up and realized A) It sucks hard core and takes little or no talent (hiphop takes talent) B) It just has a negative effect on the soul.

I don't how anyone else feels, but I am thoroughly annoyed by suburban kids blasting rap/hip hop music while cruising in their mother's Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited. Good grief. I'm embarrassed for them and hacks like Justin for speaking the way he does.

I think everybody is sick and tired of this. The best remedy, going to see School of Rock and remembering what it is to be a real rrock and roll fan. Jack Black does for Rock and Roll what Shakespeare does for poetry in the sonnets.

Dude, I don't care who makes the music as long as it's good music. I'm referring to the suburban kids who 15 years ago had the long hair and heavy metal look who annoyed me then, but are now acting like mini-Eminems straight from the hood. They describe things as "tight" and end sentences with "know what I'm saying?" They're trying real hard, a la Vanilla Ice. These pretenders attend private school, live a life of privilege and at the end of the day they drive home in mommy's luxury SUV. Personally, I find it both pathetic and hilarious. But that's just me. Know what I'm saying?

I don't support violent sexaholic rappers, I don't even listen to rap. I do support free speech and responsibility though. If parents were more involved and if stores chose to not sell adult music to kids, it wouldn't be a problem. But since the majority of the people who buy this stuff are teens, nobody is gonna work hard to stop the cash cow that rap is. Capitalism doesn't work as well if you try to do the right thing and causing yourself to make less money. Just like taking jobs overseas to avoid minum wage laws, safety laws, etc.

    Man, this thread got derailed.
