    Relatively solid advice. The don't ever think about her again advice only works so far, eventually you will think about her. It's a different matter on managing it though.

    This is more of a general life pondering question, but why do people give "don't do this" advice?

    Don't think of a pink elephant. See? You thought of one didn't you!

    Not that I don't do it, but it's just interesting to note.

    Man, I feel for you. We have all had to deal with heartbreak at some point in our lives and it sucks. But if you were ever hoping to have anything with her in the future you just blew it with the voicemails. As others have stated the best way to get back at her is to act like you don't care. I know it's tough but just forget about her and move on, otherwise you will just torture yourself.
