Then he should withhold his contribution from the Education trust if it bothers him, which of course, was nothing. I don't think 100 k is out of whack with respect to high level education executives; it seems pretty commensurate with the market rate to me.
Google for Mr. Whitehead, and you get the following: This brings another layer to the discussion. Though the post is written by Mr Whitehead, it paints a picture of a seriously nasty political conflict. I'm not familiar with Mr. Stinson, but a brief examination of his recent articles makes me fairly sure that he comes down on the Republican "religious right" side of the issue, given his property tax rants and his gloating article "Hispanics' support of Bush a 'rude awakening' for Demos" which suggests essentially that the Texas Democratic Party should just close now as they will never again have a chance. One therefore has to wonder if Mr. Stinson isn't playing political games. Given someone elses assertation that they are a reciepient of funds from the Gates foundation, which is meticulous in it's giving, it appears more and more to me that this is either a backlash at the charity for bashing his beloved San Antonio, or it's some sort of political partisanism. I rant but it really *$%& me off when people attack charities without making sure that they know what they're talking about, or if they have some personal agenda. Even if the charity isn't doing as well as it should or isn't dealing it's funds as effectively as it could, as long as it's not an out and out scam it's doing 1000x as much for the world as lazy self-important writers for second-class newspapers. You're on my #%#$ list, Mr. Stinson!
That's his real picture? Is that an extra from Grumpy Old Men? That geezer probably couldn't find google.com with a google toolbar on his browser. What an idiot - he must have decided to mail his column in that day to watch Diagnosis: Murder reruns or something.
