I know - isn't that interesting. How would the Rockets EVER rectify that if they want Thibs? Hmmmm - such a quandry. DD
Maybe, maybe not. Doc hasn't been able to do it successfully considering his circumstance and SVG looks promising but still needs a season or two.
He kicks players cans - which is exactly what this team needs. Are you now seeing that I am correct about the can kicking strategy? DD
What a bunch of wussies we have as players these days never heard this from Dream, Magic, Michael or Larry - we need to rest...waaa waaaa waaaa. DD

Nope. D-Mo trade wouldn't LESSENED the tax burden, but it would not have avoided it. Between the luxury tax payment and the loss of shared tax revenues by non-taxpaying teams, the Rockets are out a total of $7.4 million, on top of all other salaries. I love ya, DD, but your "Les is cheap" narrative is tired and inaccurate.
And Les we forget, had the DMo trade gone down, we'd be paying $1,931,900 more right now for a rookie.
I know differently from personal experience - and it is not just his cap management directive that I know this. It is also the way he treats his employees, and customers that I know he is cheap. It is cool if you disagree, but I know the truth. Again, one small tax year, is more the exception that proves the rule. DD
Let me re-phrase: When it comes to PLAYER SALARIES and willingness to spend on a BASKETBALL ROSTER, Les is not cheap. I will defer to your personal knowledge on his treatment of ticket sales employees, etc. Assuming that information is accurate and you want to criticize Les for how he runs the revenue-generating aspect of his business, have at it. But I've seen plenty of complaining on this BBS that Les doesn't spend on the BASKETBALL TEAM. And that's simply not true.
The facts according to DD are a curious thing. Much like a snake, you twist and contort your way to prove your point. Simply put.... DD vs Bima.... Gotta go with Bima every time. I agree, Les isn't cheap when it comes to the basketball team. If you want to argue with your "personal experience" AKA your "opinion" about the customer side then sure.
Bima - Les tries like hell to get under the Lux line every year, even this year he tried to get there. Even in the years he was buying draft picks (2nd rounders etc) and paying top dollar for them $3m to spend - overall per year - there were underlying factors. Most of those years - Yao Ming's salary was being covered by insurance, thus leading to a windfall of basically free money for the Rockets, which to their credit they did spend on draft picks (at least a small portion of it). They are usually at the cap, but the way they structure their contracts, no player options, letting Parsons walk, forcing players like Landry and others to set their value in the Market is a sign that they are cheap or frugal if you prefer that verbiage. And yes, I have intimate knowledge of other factors that guide my viewpoint. Les is generous at times for causes he believes in, but again - tax write offs.....so, yeah, cheap! DD
