Jb is dumbfoundingly cluless. He would not play Harrell. He would simply shorten the rotation and probably give Brewer more minutes.
Le$ wants to win, but doesn't want to do what you have to do to get there. If we kept Parsons we would be a LOT better today than we are - he was our 3rd star(ish) player. But we didn't want to pay him - now we have another guy who has a unique skillset can become a quality 3rd player and we are going to move him along too to avoid paying the going rate. Too much turnover of young player as we chase too many maybes....I would rather develop from within. We have not kept a single player beyond their rookie contract under Morey that we drafted, that is NOT a good sign. DD
"A lot" better based on what? Sounds like wishful thinking as Parsons isn't known for his defense. If you are talking about DMO, then are you dumb or dishonest? When was the last time DMo score more than 15 points? And why was that? Some type of injury? Can't help you if you seriously think if DMo never got injured and went on to average like +15pts 7 boards 3 assists to go with +40% 3 pt shooting he wouldn't be getting paid by the Rockets. Why? Because SAS and GS did it? Who else has done it well? Why? It seems like quite a few of our draftees are getting money somewhere else to be just average.
Yea Parsons would only be a slight upgrade... If at all over Ariza. Paying double for him would have been a bad move, the Ariza/Parsons swap was a sucess by Morey. Don't forget Parsons will be a free agent this summer, with a large cap hold. If we kept Parsons, keep Howard and Dmo, we wouldn't have had any cap space for this summer, meaning we would be stuck in mediocrity with no chance at adding a significant piece.
You need your Robert Horry's, your Sam Cassels, your Kenny Smiths, guys that are NOT superstars but are great team players.....this whole 3 star BS is out of hand, you don't NEED 3 stars, you need one or two that fit well and you build with a bunch of players around them that make the team better. But whatever, you and I are NEVER going to agree - you believe in what Morey is doing, I think it is a fools errand. Cap holds..lol - whatever.....we would be a contender NOW with a healthy Parsons over Ariza, he is that 2nd creator we lack - and then you sprinkle in better role players and you have a better team. We aren't going to be adding a SUPERSTAR player - we are just kicking the can down the road on a hope and a prayer...isn't that great.....next year we can do it again, and again and again - like every year under this flawed strategy. Looks like Parson's may be getting a Max contract this summer, and oh look at that list of suitors - why hello Daryl Morey! DD
We may not have a perfect roster, but a full training camp under Tom Thibs would make a night and day difference. Some of the issue is talent, but most of the issue is foundational instruction and leadership.
We don't have one of the best two way players ever manning the center position... No I understand what Morey is trying doing and realize his moves have risks. I asked you earlier... based on what? His playmaking? Better role players? He cost almost two Arizas... You laugh about a cap hold but have no understanding of it. LOL. Morey resigned players and added Lawson because he believed this squad could be a contender. Where was the kicking of the can this year? Can your tiny brain understand it? LOL. Morey's name will be in every single big name trade, like every year. Honestly, do you even follow the Rockets?
And with a top 3-5 coach they will still loss in the first round. People seriously underestimate the coalescence of factors that makes a team a contender, especially one of the nature as the Spurs and as of late, GS.
So now Parsons is that key player? Come on DD, that's just hindsight and totally subjective. Ariza has been amazing for us. I do admit that Leslie has never really allowed role players to stick around for long. He will trade any role player for a supposed 'star', regardless of fit, any day of the week and twice on the weekend. I wish Leslie had never taken over. He's our biggest problem. He inherited a championship team and hasn't done much since. Yao was taken for monetary reasons, not basketball so not sure Leslie deserves any credit.
You might want to go review my posts about us not matching being a huge gaffe, and that better teams KEEP their talent. I agree Les is the biggest problem, but Captain Calculaters insistence on hiring a puppeteer coaching staff is also a major problem. DD
PLS MAKE THIS HAPPEN MURRY. all i want is this, doesn't even worry me who's on the roster next year ATM besides james
Just a complete disaster with little hope for the future. Houston is a destination the most lucrative free agents will avoid.
Thibby was here under JVG. That 'era' ended unhappily for the coaching staff. Why think JVG or Thibby would be kissing and making up with Owner Alexander today? Mebbe they get along fine; working together might just be something else. PS Wherever Thibby lands I hope it's The Suns or a team with as fabled a training staff as they!
I don't know man. Back in the 90's the above was correct. Back then stars had the sack to stay with their team and try to win it for themselves and the team mates they had. Now stars are trying to team up and form dynasty's like Lebron running off to Miami, LMA off to the spurs with Duncan Parker and Leonard. What happens if Durrant runs off to Golden State? Just seems the league has changed quite a bit since we won the titles. Stars don't want to create a legacy for themselves they just want to get together and dominate on one team. Maybe we do need 3 stars or 2.5 to go over the top. At this point I have no idea what direction the Rockets go in. Chasing Durrant is a pipe dream. If we had made it to the WCF again or whatever I could see Durrant considering us. But I just can't see him considering this dysfunctional group of clowns out there with no coach. I can't see any serious talent looking at us right now. Hell man. Stars that would sign here for max at this point I have to wonder if they are just doing it for a payday as opposed to wanting to win. This season has brought up endless questions with not many answers.
