Great post Roslolian! The bullying SF mixed with finesse shooting C and an all-around PF is a great mix. We'd have the best shooting 3-4-5 combo in the league. That said, we really need more above-average post player to complement this group with some shot-blocking/rebounding. Nothing too special, a Chandler or Dalembert off the bench would be fantastic.

It comes from the same place that said he would be drafted by the Houston Rockets weeks before today. When everyone was still clamoring over African pogo sticks and international men of mysteries instead of actual basketball players. The day Daryl Morey picked Kansas as his favorite in the NCAA tournament I made it a point to watch his every move, since he was their best player. And do my damn research on his past and present instead of these nitwits who think we just got another undersized PF when they have never even seen the man play.

I've never seen a second of Morris play until the highlight clips they showed when we drafted him, but this is the kind of post you make to support your view. I don't know whether he's going to make it or not but the most in depth analysis I've read from the people who don't like this pick consists mainly of he's a pu$$y, etc. The most insightful posts have been from people from before we even drafted this guy. Gives me a good feeling that this was a wise choice.

Dude, where can I mail you your motivational speaker fee?

For real and sincere, I was actually in the doldrums after this draft, and I was actually expecting to get reinforcement to my Rockets depression spiral on the BBS -- however, you have actually made me feel a little better and have somewhat helped give life to my dying and formerly unquestioning faith in Daryl Morey.

Here I am: 1) thanking you 2) keeping an open mind for the upcoming season (hopefully) and 3) renewing my League Pass account.

Easier said than done. It's easy to say "He's gonna be the next franchise player".
You're already putting pressure on the guy. Just let him play.

Franchise player is going out on a limb. I wanted Marcus drafted by us as well, but I see him panning our to be a Granger type of player in a few years.

    Exactly. I agree.

Many teams have franchise players. Steve Francis was a franchise player. Kevin Love, Brandon Roy, Danny Granger, Stephen Curry, Joe Johnson etc etc are all franchise players. They are the face.

I believe Marcus Morris will become the best player on the Rockets, and the face of this team. But more importantly, I believe he will be good enough to be a top dog on a contender(as opposed to someone like Kevin Martin).

Although that might not mean a SUPERSTAR- Dwight, CP3, Kobe, Lebron, Rose- it is still the absolute biggest need for this team.

I'm thinking he might be a Jared Dudley type player.

Great take CXbby. I really like this pick and agree that Marcus will show us he belongs the same way Patterson did last year. I had mixed feelings about the team not picking Leonard but after thinking about it Morris has a great overall game and will be a factor on both ends of the floor.

Jared Dudley is a great defender with good offense.

Marcus Morris on the other hand is a Mike Harris with more polish.

NBATV talked to McHale about Morris. He talked about his versatility in handling the ball and being able to hit jumpers and then go into the post and beat up on the smaller threes. Also said they could use him as a stretch 4. He said this was one of the two guys they were really focused on and happy he fell to them.

Beasley is a much better player than Marcus Morris who in turn is a slightly better player than Chandler Parsons.

Yeah, it needs to be seen by everyone saying he's a undersized PF. He is, in the same way that Odom is a undersized PF. He's not a bad rebounder either so he DOES make our team bigger, just not at the Center spot. Just like how the Lakers are really big because of the large SFs they have in Artest and Odom.

I'm not sure if he'll be a franchise player, but I am glad that we got him. I think at the very least he's a key player for a long time. If he learns how to use his skillset at the NBA level(something Odom hasn't been able to really put together) than he can be a all-star quality player.
