are you sure about this? this is what i wanted clarified actually. cause clutch's article is kind of vague and can be interpreted either way. Yes, I'm sure. Memphis gets OUR pick, we can't trade for another pick and ship that to Memphis. I believe we had the option of sending them another pick last year, but this year they get ours.
lol.....you two are going at it. Well can someone explain to me how Detroit can get Memphis's pick???
that makes a lot more sense, it it was indeed a trade the rockets laughed at. Hell, I just laughed about that one. I wouldn't be surprised if they tried to throew in charlie ward, too, they're always trying to trade him, even though his value is about the same as moochie norris: zero.
like i said, i am positive the knicks offered kurt thomas and somebody else for eddie griffin. and the rockets laughed at that proposal. it is ridiculous to trade a player who supposedly was compared to tim duncan/kevin garnett on nbadraft.net for kurt thomas, a weaker version of kenny thomas. while griffin won't ever become kevin garnett or tim duncan for that matter, he could be a ben wallace type defender if he worked on his game more and if he ever improves that 3 point shot of his, he could become a good perimeter shooter and he is a good rebounder.
WTF!!!! This is one of the deepest drafts ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I mean its so deep, T.J. Ford Might not get a top 10 position!!!!!!!!!!!
Kurt Thomas a weaker version of Kenny Thomas? lmao That is hilarious. Looking at their stats, Kurt Thomas is superior to Kenny in almost every category while playing less minutes! At his very best, Kenny is probably Kurt's equal. Griffin would be a better C than Thomas? lmao How do you figure? Griffin isn't even tough enough to play the 4, much less the 5. Kurt proved last season he is a pretty good 5 in the East. Your opinion of Griffin is vastly overrated at this point in time. Griffin is worth a late lottery pick? He was barely worth a late lottery pick when we traded for him! His stock was higher when he was drafted than it is now. And you still think he is worth a lottery pick? lmao And I can't believe you honestly try to compare Eddie's potential, at this point in time, with the two time reigning Defensive Player of the Year and the best rebounder in the game. Where are you coming up with this stuff? If you can sit there, and honestly think that Griffin is worth Kurt Thomas AND a lottery pick, then I don't know what to tell you. Must be nice living in a fantasy world because Griffin is not worth Kurt Thomas or a lottery pick, much less both together. lmao So the sell out streak ended. I am sure bringing in Eddie Griffin will start a new sell out streak right away. lmao
hell yeah, eddie griffin would bring more fans to madison square garden. knicks fans are desperate you know. they need some false optimism in my opinion and what better way than to get a young player with potential that the ny media can hype. griffin has "POTENTIAL", that being the keyword. and it's that potential that you have to use as a selling point with the knicks. kurt thomas stats are a result of him getting a ton of open shots in new york's offense. almost nobody challenges his outside shot and griffin plays a different position than kurt thomas. griffin has to guard very quick all star power forwards in the western conference on a regular basis whereas kurt thomas stats benefit from playing against slower players at center. griffin, although a power forward is younger at 20 years old and is also taller than thomas and the height deficient knicks need all the height they can get. even if its one inch.
If u ppl are dying to make a trade with NY How about this one: Griffin+Cato+Norris+2nd round pic for Thomas+Weatherspoon+Doleac+pic It seems fair to me... ALA
BTW the NY daily herald(is it reliable source?) has reported that the Knicks might rather trade their pic to solidify their PF and PG postions, thus the trade. ALA
You are really insulting NY fans. I can't believe you think that Eddie Griffin will help sell more tickets. NY Fan #1: Hey did you hear the Knicks got Eddie Griffin? NY Fan #2: The actor? NY Fan #1: No, the PF who plays for Houston. NY Fan #2: The one who is one of the worst starting 4s in the NBA? NY Fan #1: Well, yeah, but he is 1 inch taller than Kurt Thomas and he blocks .2 more shots a game. NY Fan #2: Who did we give up for him? NY Fan #1: Kurt Thomas and a lottery pick. NY Fan #2: I don't see how this improves our chances of making the playoffs. NY Fan #1: Well see, Eddie has a ton of potential and even though he can't really play PF in the West, he can play center for us. NY Fan #2: Better than Thomas? NY Fan #1: Yeah. NY Fan #2: How so? NY Fan #1: Cause he is 1 inch taller. NY Fan #2: But isn't Griffin a pansy? NY Fan #1: Yeah, but you have to look at potential. NY Fan #2: Ahhhhh, I see. We better run out and buy are season tickets. I wasn't going to get any this year, but you have me convinced that Griffin is the missing piece for a playoff run. NY Knick ad campaign: "Come see our potential!" So Kurt Thomas gets alot of wide open shots (and hits them) in NY's offense. EG has proven he can't hit wide open shots. So NY values a player is has underacheived, blocks .2 more shots a game and is one inch taller over Kurt Thomas. Yeah, that sounds right. So why again is this a good deal for NY?
"So Kurt Thomas gets alot of wide open shots (and hits them) in NY's offense. EG has proven he can't hit wide open shots. So NY values a player is has underacheived, blocks .2 more shots a game and is one inch taller over Kurt Thomas. Yeah, that sounds right. So why again is this a good deal for NY?" he doesn't always hit open shots and there's a reason nobody really bothers to go outside to guard him cause he isn't that great a shooter. EG can definitely hit open shots inside the three point line and he has shown occasionally the ability to hit wide open three pointers(cough cough, if you ignore all the air balls, that is) without griffin, yao ming would be a bum. he's yao's bodyguard. lol conversation i overheard from two knicks fans: fan 1: hey, did you read the article in the nypost on eddie griffin, rising star: the heir apparent to patrick ewing's center position. fan 2: yeah, he sounds like a real steal. fan 1: yeah, i can't believe the rockets were dumb enough to give up on him. fan 2: yeah, so what, we gave up on kurt "cross eyed" thomas and a lottery pick, the knicks never pick anyone good in the draft anyway. fan 1: at least with eddie griffin, we have someone with potential, not some scrub named frederic weis who gets jumped over and dunked on by vince carter. fan 2: yeah, at least this guy can block some shots and this is the eastern conference after all. all scrubs from the west could probably dominate in the east.
Eddie Griffin can definitely hit wide open shots???? Eddie Griffin is the heir apparent to Patrick Ewing???? I know what the problem is now. You have been hanging out with EG haven't you?!?!?!? Heir apparent .................LMFAO
We do not get our pick. period. The Knicks offered Othella, not Kurt. They made lowball offers to anyone willing to take their phone calls.
regarding the heir apparent comment, you do realize i was illustrating how the ny media overhypes players right? nah, i don't hang around eg, i can afford my own marajuana. i grow them in my backyard.
Good Lord. You think the NY media is going to over-hype EG and try to present him as Ewing's heir apparent??? lmao You obviously do not know much about NY fans or their media. With EG's attitude and demeanor, NY media and fans would eat him alive. NY media would never, ever, in a million years, try to pass off EG has an heir apparent to Ewing. Never, ever! Would not happen. NY fans are not dumb. PS - Did I forget to mention "never ever!!!"??
i know ny fans aren't dumb. do you understand sarcasm? i know the ny media is all about hype and scrutiny. but if eg plays well, they would hype him up as that and if he gets traded there, there would some article hyping up his past where he was touted as the best player coming out in the draft, who set a shot blocking record at seton hall. by the way, ewing sucks in my opinion.
I'm intrigued by Leandrinho Barbosa of Brazil, a 6'4" point guard with long-ass arms who defends well (according to nbadraft.net). How high will he go, though? Is he worth losing some chemistry (I say "some" because, after all, we're talking Rockets here)? A tall PG would help move Steve to a 2 guard on offense.
Barbosa should be available in the late first. I'm hoping he slips to us in the 2nd. Anyone know how old he is? He looks like he might still be growing.
