he`s a great coach, maybe the best defensive coach in the league. if the jets had a QB, they`d be right there with NO and IND.
i think you are being intentionally obtuse. "I'm not embarrassed to say that I believe that will happen," Ryan said. "The great thing is we get to prove it soon. That's the beauty of it." http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100806...bl9qZXRzX3JleF9zX3dyaXR0ZW5fZ3VhcmFudGVlBHBvc again, rex set the bar high.
i was just commenting on u saying he hasnt done ***** as a head coach...so i said that you must set the bar really high if 1 year and 1 AFC champ game falls under the category of "hasnt done *****" no one ever said Rex wasnt cocky....but you said he hasnt done ***** as a head coach...which is incorrect Had you said that Kubiak hadnt done ***** as a head coach, I would have agreed
we can certainly all agree on that^ otherwise, i think you are misinterpreting my point or just feel like nitpicking.
we'll see how great that team really is this year. they were spotted 2 games at the end of the season, beat up a mediocre Bengals team in the first round, and got by San Diego because their kicker shanked 3 field goals to reach the AFC championship.
just the facts. the guy himself thought his team was eliminated from the playoffs. you may need to run to HEB for some paper towels for the drool on his nuts. he's not a great or bad coach. he's just louder than most. what that team needs to be elite is a better QB. maybe Sanchez improves, but that's what is holding them back.
Agreed. It is amazing how many people have completely re-invented last season in their minds. The Jets were clearly an above-average team but only made the playoffs because the last two teams they were playing didn't care. They had a good game in game 1 and should probably have lost game 2. That's not to take away their accomplishments from last year but I think it is fair to say they over-achieved to a degree. Can they take the next step? Maybe, I don't know. I certainly don't think, though, that they were all that amazing last year and I think they are being over-rated so far this year.
I think he does something that is very hard to do especially with the million-dollar egos in that room. He acts like one of the guys yet still demands the respect of a head coach. For all the joking around he does, when he gets serious, every single person in that room is glued to him. Those guys would run through a wall for him. He is one quarterback away from coaching a legitimate contender. I am not a fan of the Jets. I do not care about the Jets. Mark Sanchez is a douche. I like Rex Ryan. Maybe he shouldn't cuss on tv and the old school guys don't like him or whatever, but he gets through to those players on a personal and professional level. That's got to be one of the hardest things at that level.
facts are.....they went to the AFC championship w him as head coach in his first season when they were picked by most experts to be 6-10....period
He's like his old man, outspoken and good for a quote, and has all his players believing in what he says. And actually has done more as a head coach than his old man, win a playoff game.
I'd rather my team's coach say we'll win the Super Bowl than "I hope we make the playoffs!" Confidence is good for a coach and a team... though Rex Ryan is a bit overzealous in his display of that confidence.
He just seems kind of ridiculous. "...Now let's go eat a ******* snack." This should be an Internet Meme to be used as a reply to any long angry rant.
The fact is that it's not about reality, its about perception and the media helps with perception. Most people don't pay attention to the whole story, just the clips and highlights. The jets were a good team last year, but were very lucky on a lot of fronts as some of you have noted. If things panned out naturally, they would have gone 8-8 and missed the playoffs and all people would be talking about would be them as sleepers in their division. Its funny that rex hypes them so too, that should help them. He is getting old fast though and it will be fun to see reality pop the bubble.
