I just want another dominant 7 footer. Inside - out game son. I think it wont work because of wrong coach. If you find the right coach then maybe we can take it back to early-mid 90s. The Dreamin days.
The point really is not about needing/not needing a superstar big. The Rockets need a superstar period, regardless of position. Lets list which superstars out there that can be had. Lets also remember that there are probably only 7 or 8 true superstars out there and 2 of them play for the heat in LeBron and Wade. So that leaves who else? An aging Kobe? An aging Nash? Maybe. The point is...you get any true superstar you can get your Hands on, they are so rare. You are suggesting that you gAmble on these draft picks that may or may not pan out. Why not gamble on a known commodity?
Who is the superstar wing that we can acquire? There are only a handful of true superstars in the entire league and nobody in this draft will likely be a superstar. So where do we get this superstar wing?
Steve Nash Lmfao! Maybe he can go to Miami at this point in his career because he hasn't even been to the NBA Finals being a 2 time MVP award winner.
Basketball was an always will be a big man's game. If big men aren't winning championships lately it's because there haven't been good enough ones playing. Point guard will always be the least valuable piece towards winning a championship. Name me the last team to win one whose BEST player was a PG. ...I'm waiting. Oh HI there, Isaiah Thomas and the 1990 Detroit Pistons! In the meantime you've teams led by Michael (SG), Hakeem (C), Duncan (C), Shaq (C), Kobe (SG), Garnett (PF/C), Dirk (PF), and Lebron (SF). Great centers will always beat great players at other positions. Because they are unstoppable by definition.
Yeah, Chris Bosh coming back from his injury had nothing to do with Miami playing so much better in their last 7 games
That was what I was trying to get at by prefacing with the word "aging". Kobe and Nash are declining. Nash more so then Kobe, thus, you wouldn't want to build around them.
exactly. there are no elite big men in hte league. SO to get an upper hand over the rest of the NBA YOU GET AN ELITE BIG MAN. i don't want howard for a year, but if we could a great big from the draft, I would be all for it. if an above average/all star caliber Center was on this current team, we could do really well. in the case we get the 5th and 8th pick. we should draft the best big man available with the 5th. with the 8th, we get that scoring wing player you're talking about. out of the 8th spot, you can get a pretty good wing player, im talking all star caliber within the next few years. add D-Mo? man we could actually be a good team.
