Congrats Derek and Shan! To tell you how out of touch I am, I thought you guys were already married..oh well. I can tell you that marriage has been the single hardest thing I have ever done even harder than raising kids (but I have a feeling I will change my mind once my kids go to middle school). The best advice I can give you is the following: 1) Try to leave your ego out of arguments/disagreements - never try to out-do the other person 2) Learn to fight fairly (something that has been tough for me) 3) Always communicate with your partner 4) Always be willing to compromise 5) Don't go to bed mad at each other 6) This one is if you have kids - never badmouth the other in front of your kids; if he or she does something that you don't agree with when it comes to your kids, discuss it in private. The last thing you want is kids knowing that they can play you off of each other. Congratulations again.

I am very happy for these two fine people. I'm glad to say that I was there from the very beginning with them. They'll be fine together, and I can see this going on forever. Someday, I will be happy too.
