I can think of two things... 1. NBA - 40 games each week like League Pass 2. NFL - every feed for every team for every game I'll personally take that over MLB and NASCAR, but that's me. But, Siriusly (oh, man, that never gets old), XM has the better music channels overall. The playlists are deeper. But, Sirius is expanding and they are just so much better when it comes to some of the news-related channels - PRI, BBC, NPR, etc.
Well Sirius doesn't have a contract either unless you get the deal mentioned above, which is about a $200 value for signing p for a years service(which IMO once you try it you'll want to keep it forever). Not that I have a problem with XM I, like Jeff, prefer the NBA, NFL and NHL(when they play again) package over MLB and Nascar. I can listen to the Astros on AM if I want.
and ontop of all that, Sirius is not even partially owned by CC....which is a huge plus in their favor.
Funny thing is, I rarely listen to NPR for the news, but they have some of the finest jazz music programming around as well as great shows like Fresh Air and Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me. Plus, with PRI, I get World Cafe back. I avoid the news like the plague unless it is local news sweeps week. Then, it is pure entertainment.
that's my problem, too. save a few exceptions, if i'm listening to music, i'm listening to a cd...and when i'm listening to the radio, it's sports radio. really, the only exception might be Latin jazz night on KTSU.
Well, isn't that because the radio sucks? Imagine if tv was only 4 channels. It would be turned off a lot more also. Wait, maybe that would be better.
For Howard Stern fans, Sirius is the receiver to have. I'm really looking forward to his show without censorship constraints.
Oh, I see. You think it's "entertaining" that millions of Al-Qaeda members are possibly crossing our border and that we may have no way of knowing or finding out who they are? No wonder you listen to NPR.
Sirius has a deal on their web site where you can listen for 3 days for free. Anyone know if one of those small receivers would work on a plane?
Isn't sweeps going on now? This was the commercial I heard every four seconds watching The West Wing last night. "Al-Qaeda could already be in your home. Find out why we have no ****ing way of knowing who is crossing our borders tonight! It's not just the Mexicans we have to worry about now!" Seriously, close to that, especially that last line. Buck, give me a shout. Our homeboy's retired, it's drinking time tonight.
Sirius doesn't really have a reciever that is portable..so no. XM's new MiFi is the only portable and I doubt that would work on a plane either, don't think the antena would be that strong. But it does have a TiVo like feature that would save 5 hours of music, so in that regard..you could take it on a plane.
No, they won't work on planes. In fact, even XM's new portable walkman unit is VERY spotty inside any structure.
For some reason I thought this Sirius product was portable. http://sirius.com/servlet/ContentServer?pagename=Sirius/CachedPage&c=ProductAsset&cid=1093551683444
I think it is if you get the "boombox" feature. Otherwise you have to have the car or home adapter to make it work.
