Yes he was bad in the 1st game. But name me one Houston player who wasn't bad in the 1st game blow out loss at OKC. Parson had 9 pts with 1/5 on 3s. Harden was 6/19 and 1/6 on 3s. Asik had 9 pts. It is to be expected that they would not do well at OKC's home court, being their 1st playoff game with whole bunch of nerve and lack of playoff experience. Jeremy played well in the 2nd game but was quickly injured. The unexpected come-back performance really shouldn't count against his normal ability if he could barely raise his arms to shoot or dribble. He tried to help but he really shouldn't come back that fast. But a healthy Lin as the starting pg would never have a zero assist game, which PB did and you chose to ignore just because the team won some games with him as pg. The reality was Harden just woke up after 3 bad losses and was shooting light out, same was Parson. They didn't get any help from PB. If you think a pg with ZERO assist is good enough, then there is no validity in your argument at all. Besides PB is only at 33% with 3s in the regular season and how is that good enough as a pg who can rain 3s?
Good point. BTW, it's all good vp. We're all just fans venting and hashing stuff out on Clutch. I just wish people were not so hateful toward Lin, and I'm not talking about the valid criticisms. Anyways, night y'all.
Agree. Even a future HOFer can get buried by a good Miami defence any given game, not to say the OP tried to shame Jeremy's play in his first encounter with that team to justify his hate on Lin. So pathetically unfair.
99ers care, they always care I preferred when people there was no term and people can argue facts Like I mentioned before, I seriously doubt people join Clutchfans because they dislike a player
I definitely see what you're seeing, BUT, I don't think it's fair to just avoid the baiting comments. What I see is (as an example) and allow me some artistic license: meh: Lin really does need to work on his 3s. It's unacceptable. post 1: Tru dat. post 2: He's alright. He did show improvement. post 3: Lin sucks. He's a scrub. Trade him now and start Bev! post 4: Man, Bev shot only 33% from 3. Why are you just hating on Lin? post 5: Lin is the weakest link. He should be traded. If he doesn't shoot 38% and above this year, he's outta here. Besides, he's unproven! He sucked in the playoffs. post 6: insert long spiel about how much potential Lin has, yada, yada, yada post 7: insert condescending spiel about how LOFs are ruining this peaceful site. post 8: insert random Lin fan post quoting your original statement saying how that's not fair because yada, yada, yada.... It's rarely me seeing: meh: Lin really does need to work on his 3s. It's unacceptable. post 1: I agree. post 2: Stop hating!! I hate ABJs. My point is, it's difficult sometimes to separate the posters as what you deem as constructive criticism, which I sometimes agree, is the same point of contention with which the trolls declare Lin a fraud. Over and over and over again amidst good news such as getting Dwight. Having a contending team again. Being a young dynamic team. With Lin telling us he's getting better at 3s. Lin proving it (somewhat) by going out and performing (against scrubs however). Still, it's "he got dunked on what a joke." "He can't play soccer either? What a joke." etc. My point is if there weren't such an incessant amount of hate for Lin, the obnoxious fans who blame others for Lin's weaknesses would also stop. It's common knowledge that when something gets too big, people knock it (Apple, Sony, etc..) but it's not fair when it is our own Rockets player and even the mods generally feel it's Lin fans fault for DEFENDING our player from ATTACKERS. It's really unfair. Sigh~
You bet. The way Lin get hate threads over and over again for his shooting deficiency, we have yet heard one hater commenting on PB's 33% on 3 for the season. Come on guys, Lin shot 40% 3s after ASG, why the heck he got attacked on problem with 3s and not PB. If the haters are sincere about the low % of 3s being Lin's reason to be dumped or PB should be starting, they need to push PB to prove that he can rain in 3s above 40% too.
The biggest argument they have is "Lin didn't show up come playoff time." While Beverley did. And they'll keep running that argument until Lin gets a chance to show that his putrid playoff performance was just a one time thing. Injury or no injury, it's a lingering image that is a major rally point for Lin doubters.
That's not true. There are notorious NY posters who moved here just to spite Lin and guess what they're still here. As a basketball fanatic, I've frequented the LAL & HEAT & NYK forums nearly all of last year as well. Having said that, there are of course not many LOHs outside of a handful. I do see what you're saying. But, conversely, there are only a handful of LOFs who don't care about the Rockets. It just seems like many to both sides. What we do have is a lot of haters and a lot of supporters, but I'd like to believe that the ones doing the defending are doing right by the Rockets, imho.
Bev was 37% for the season, he was 33% in the playoffs. But you're right, since Bev started playing for The Rockets JLin was a better 3pt shooter. (40%)
It really is the anyone but Jeremy syndrome. If Lin were the aggressive defender, I'd bet my lunch money that people would say how inefficient and foul prone such defense is, and that it suits a back up better than a starter. It is what it is. And interestingly, that's what Lin has dealt with his entire life, if I'm remembering his interviews correctly. And I'm talking about even in college.
In Golden State, the criticism was how he was only good in bringing pestering defense and energy, lol.
Word, Lin will have every opportunity this year to potentially put his stamp on his future as a Rocket. There is not as much pressure on him now that Howard, Harden, and a young budding star in Parsons are on the rise. Lin doesn't even have to be great, he just has to be reliable and consistent. For our teams' sake, he needs to be a Rock we can count on
We will have Lin no matter what..... If he improve, with his followers, Rockets would definitely keep him. If he doesn't, or regress, Rockets are stuck. Who would want a sub par pg with that big contract.
Lin should put his foot down and make some demands. Harden for Fields and Novak. Dwight and Parsons for Shump and Chandler. Cut Bev and Canaan so Lin has no competition looking over his shoulder. Fire the coaching staff for have ever putting the team in Hardens hands over Lins. Hire some of the NBA expert Lin fans from Clutchfans to fill the coaching void. Lin can now play with his buddies, without those mean old coaches and teammates and the best basketball this world has ever known can be seen by all. Linsanity ensues.
As a fan of another team...and one who watches the Rockets cause I fantasy drafted some of your players....I don't understand the hate on you guys have for guys like Jeremy Lin. Aside from the elite 5 (CP3, DWill, DRose, Rondo, RWest) and fringe elite, (Lilliard, Irving and Parker) Lin is well on his way to becoming one of the best attacking guards out there. Would you rather have a Brandon Jennings, Crappy attitude that jacks shots whenever he feels like it? or a Raymond Felton, slow and terrible shooter that can only play pick and roll offence, or Kyle Lowry, well you guys know what Lowry brings... You guys have a very solid, young, still learning kid that has an unbelievable attitude to his team and fans, yet you seem discontent. Wow. I'll take him on the my teams the Lakers and the Raptors ANY DAY.
You are right. We will probably have to throw in all our tradeable draft picks in those deals as sweetners. Other teams aren't just going to let Linsanity happen that easily, they know it would essentially be over for the rest of the league if those deals go down.
No joke, I'm sure Jeremy is licking his chops to get back at Miami for ending the Linssnity and embarrassing him on national television. Look out LeBron. You're going to taste the LINSANITY!!!
Beverley did ok, not super, his usual high energy ball pressuring defence. But he didn't score huge nor assist 10+, in fact he had a zero assist game. How on earth you can have zero assist game as the starting pg and be considered great? Besides he got burned repeatedly by OKC's back up pg for huge scoring. How good a defender he is then? Ball pressuring does not stop a good pg, only slow down a bit the ball but if you got blown by anyway or called foul too often. What is the benefit in the end result? Perhaps it is even worse than if Jeremy was the guard. Asik might have assumed the PB could stop his man and so slacked off on team defence when PB got beat for a lay up. Jeremy had a bad game in the 1st game, no doubt. But all Houston players sucked in the 1st game. Why only point finger at Lin? He played well in the 2nd game but quickly injured. So he got nailed for the 1st game and when he tried to come back too early playing injured. That is not fair to demand on a guard in his first full year. Even future HOFer TP disappeared in some playoff games. So what? Lebron disappeared in many playoff games before his championship years. That is just human and learning process of a player. Why dump so much hate on Lin only while he and his improved performance after the ASG surely helped to propel Houston into the playoff picture?
