I don't think we'll be anywhere close enough to even get a sniff of him.Martin's stock has soared as his mind is in the right place. He's bulked up to 235 and is looking top 5.I do agree that he will be a damn good NBA player.I don't think we'll be in the lottery. QUESTION... Even if we are a lottery team which I doubt, do we have our Draft Picks?? or did we trade them away??
rocketrich, I have been asking that question for about a month. I believe that the majority of the people believe that our pick that was given up in the Francis deal is lottery protected. However, I have been on numerous sites and no one gave me a 100% answer. I wonder if CLUTCH could help us out and write a small post about it. I am sure the majority of Rocket fans want to know.
In this case, the Rockets, have a 3 year option in which year they would want to give it. If they went lotto, they would probably decide to hang onto it this year.
Yep, I just graduated from Cincinnati after being there the last two years and got to see him play live several times. INTENSE. Had nine blocks yesterday. And he doesn't just block shots, he axes them. Last year in the Xavier game he swatted one so nasty it went the full length of the court and bounced out on Xavier's side. Goaltends a lot because he contests everything, and has the speed, timing and hops to get his hand on any shot. Just sick. Raw muscle, athleticism and intensity. Building a decent soft touch to make some offense to go along with his incredible defense. I doubt that the Rocks will get him, but start him up front with Cato and the D will be absolutely sick on this team. Go Cats!
man, he has some attitude. Did you see him after he did that fade away in the lane. Imagine our two big guy if we get him. Cato and Martin. Nobody would come in the lane. Check out that defense with Francis, Andersenand Cat on Defense. I dont want to go Lotto but if we get him it would be a easier pill to swallow,
I would like to be one of the first to start hyping this guy up. Man he's bad. If we go Lotto, I would want him in a heartbeat. Cincinatti -Kenyon Martin, I think he is #4
Mumu, its sounds damn good, and I'd be down if it weren't for the fact that I think we are not that far behind the west leaders in terms of talent. Screw the records. Lets right the ship and let Francis blow up, lead us to the playoffs, and win rookie of the year. Besides, we could always work out some kind of trade to get a lotto pick from someone...but we may need to reacquire Ropdrick Rhodes first, that's usually the cornerstone of any Rockets trade.
Kenyon Martin at best makes it into the lottery. But as of this moment, he is a mid first rounder. He's basically a one dimensional player. Sure, he's a great college shot blocker. But is that greatness going to translate into the pros. I don't know. Roy Rogers was out of this world in college with his block shots. Cato was ballistic. Tim Young regulated the lanes in college. Adonal Foyle was one of the most prolic shot blockers in college basketball history. Yinka Dare was dominating. But it doesn't necessarily translate well to the pros. Martin has refined his low post game, but it is still rough at best. He's going to have to show a lot more if he is going to creep into the lottery. But my personal opinion is that he's a dime a dozen player. Etan Thomas from Syracuse has the exact carbon copy game of Martin's and they both will be mid round picks. At best, Martin might turn out to be as good as Theo Ratliff.
Da Man, agreed. Martin who is from Dallas is a tremendous defender and shot blocker, but his offense is certainly quetionable. We need more than another Cato on this team. We need to grab somebody eventually who is capable of replacing Hakeem and Chuck in the low post. Not in the same way offensively but simply replace them, and do so nicely. I'm not sure that man is Kenyon Martin.
