Nobody is denying SF talents. He is a great ISO player and his skills are great. The problem is that no team can win with the ISO. The Rockets tried for four years before YAO, and we end up in the lottery all of those years.
So, I don't understand why people and or that matter SF himself continue insisting in that kind of game. If SF is not willing to become an NBA point guard they should trade him. If he is willing to pass more and quit dribbling and dribbling, then maybe he can fit in this team.

You just made my point for me. JVG had the choice of building his offense around Yao or Francis and he certainly has not chosen to build it around Francis. Just some food for thought.

He's a triple double waiting to happen who almost never records a triple double ;). I know that few do... but that's a meaningless superlative.

We do look at his good qualities. Sometime, look at even a Steve-bashing thread and actually read it all. A good many people defend him absolutely...

...and about 3/4 of the rest will mention his good qualities.

Van Gundy is not choosing to build around one or the other. He's building around both. Both of these guys need to be surrounded by good, consistent perimeter shooters. We just haven't been that good or consistent in the shooting department this year.

Also, its ridiculous to say that no team can win with ISOs. The Mavs have been one of the better teams in the NBA recently running almost exclusively ISOs. I'll say that our team wasn't as suited to that style of offense as the Mavs and also that we did not execute it nearly as well.

I don't think that is even true. The offense relies on the skills of both players. Yao role is little more prominent because of the heavy scrutiny it gets here and because getting Yao in scoring position requires more effort. Francis starts off the set with the ball, so he's a scoring threat from the start. If the offense were built around Yao and not Francis, why would Francis average 15 shots per game while Yao averages only 11?

It is amusing to me that people think slow down, half court, inside-outside offense is catering to Steve Francis' talents which would be breaking his man down on the dribble and slashing to the hole. It seems to me in JVG's offense, Steve Francis' job is to stand outside and wait for the ball to rotate to him for either a 3-pointer or to take a desperation shot as the shot clock is winding down. Wake up.

They are both going to get better...

at first Stevie is having to think about the game in a whole new way. So it's not second nature. Turns the ball over...

Now I see that he knows who he has on his team in Yao Ming. He knows he can get his team involved first and think about his shot second and he will still get the same amount of shots but his fg% is going to be higher.

You know... it was a great game... Posey made how many threes in the 4th? man. They were at home. When you are playing an NBA game with that intensity you should win at home. The Rockets played great through three... it was just the 4th.

12% or something? we just got tired. still played with heart just couldn't keep it up. I'm sure Stevie is happy Mark J. is there. Hopefully he can get his minutes down without the game falling to ****.

we will be slow as fVck with him in the game but at least it's a veteran coming in for short minutes... I think they might like wilks too and have Mark there to help him along.

I've noticed more and more offensive plays I haven't seen from the Rockets so far this year. There were a couple in the last game that were really well executed on offense (one of those was broken up but it was a nice play).
